“Sometimes, all a person needs is a lovely friend and a thirst for adventure.” Gifts are a great way to show how much you appreciate the presence of a person in your life. You don’t need to have a specific reason to give a present; you do it because it feels good. However, selecting a gift is easier said than done. In fact, if the gift recipient is someone who loves to travel, deciding on a present for them is not less than hiking. As they are always on the road, you should give them something to carry with them or use during their voyage. But, going to a gift shop is a hassle. ... read more

Making the most of your Amazon Prime Subscription
Let's talk about the last minute reality of being a busy mum can we? The way that we're pulled in about a million and one directions at once, and working out the logistics for your little darlings can sometimes feel like you're planning to take a whole army into battle for six months. We've got Little Miss C's birthday this week, so as well as all the usual things that keep me busy all week I've also been trying to also do all those extra things like arrange a party, sort part bags, buy presents and bake a cake. Finding time to do all of this can be a bit of a challenge, but thanks to ... read more
Lidl Back to School Range
I know term hasn't quite finished yet (that's coming soon enough!) but if you're a parent trying to be organised then thoughts are already turning to school uniform for when our little darlings go back in September. Master C will be starting school pre-school come September and so this will be the first year that I will have two children requiring school uniform and hence I'm really starting to see how the cost increases when you need to kit out more than one child. As a bargain lover I'm always on the look out for cheap ways to buy what I need and for a good few years now supermarkets have ... read more
When the gift really does count
With all the drama of Master C trying to eclipse his sister's birthday it's only now that I've found myself sitting back and thinking about what Little Miss C's sixth birthday really means. It seems hard to remember a time when she wasn't here with us, yet at the same time I can't believe that it's been six years ago since I was introducing her here on the blog. She's gone from a tiny baby that we dressed up in a cute England baby grow whilst we watched the football, to a six year old little lady who can, and does, very clearly tell us when she doesn't want to watch the football on the ... read more
Summer 2014: Day 5 – Fun in Luton
Yes, you did read that title correctly, and no it's not one that I ever expected to write either. When I started keeping track of what we're getting up to this summer I did realise that we couldn't go out and do an amazing day trip every day, and nor did I want to. Sometimes the simplest of things can be the most rewarding, and sometimes something that might have appeared very mundane actually turns out to be quite exciting. We started today without any real plans and the only things that we had to get done were to get some food shopping in and to buy a birthday present for a little boy ... read more
Morrisons for the weekly shop #MorrisonsMum
If you've read any of my Thrifty Mrs C posts you'll know that I'm a huge fan of a bargain, especially if it involves saving money on the weekly supermarket shop. In my quest to save money I've become a bit of what bargain hunters refer to as a "supermarket flirt", moving around to where the special offers and best prices are. It was therefore perfect timing to be asked by Morrisons to become a #MorrisonsMum in the week that they announced that the prices had been cut on over a thousand items in a permanent move to bring about a new cheaper Morrisons. So, off the family headed to the St Albans ... read more
Aldi Demystified
As part of my year of thrift one of the most obvious outgoings to look at was how much I'm spending every week on supermarket shopping. Loads of people have told me that they'd saved quite a lot by swapping to either Aldi or Lidl instead of one of the main supermarkets so I thought it was worth a go myself. There is no Lidl close by so instead I headed to Hatfield and our local branch of Aldi. Before going I asked some of my blogger friends for their hints and tips and was fascinated to hear what they had to say - so much so that I hope to demystify the whole experience of shopping at ... read more
Product of the Year Awards 2014
It's fair to say I don't get out much in an evening. Certainly not when it involves finding a posh dress to wear and heading to a swanky venue in London. Most definitely not when it involves an award ceremony presented by a household named comedian and a private gig from two number one artists. Amazingly Thursday night was just that though when I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Product of the Year Awards 2014, held at the stunningly beautiful 8 Northumberland (which bizarrely used to house my old office when I was a civil servant!) Some of you may not have heard of ... read more
What the Debenhams Secret Santa brought me for Christmas
When I was asked if I wanted to take part in a Christmas Secret Santa with a group of other bloggers for Debenhams I jumped at the idea. Firstly the idea of being able to buy something for one of my blogging friends was lovely - these were a group of women that I chat to daily on twitter and Facebook. We share all life's up and downs and see crazy numbers of photos of each others lives every week. I've been fortunate enough to meet some of them in person and without exception they're all as lovely in person as they are online. And secondly - I was being given money to buy someone a ... read more
