My kids are film mad at the moment. Since they discovered the cinema about a year ago they love going, but at the same time also love sitting on the sofa at home and enjoying a film there. I therefore am trying to keep on top of recent kids DVD releases, so I was pleased to be asked to write about The Jungle Bunch which is due out on DVD on Monday 22 January 2018. The lead role in The Jungle Bunch is Maurice - the penguin who thinks he's a tiger. A tiger penguin. Yep, my mind was a little bit boggled by that too, but that's what Maurice is. Raised by a tigress he's the clumsiest kung-fu ... read more
Win Pass The Pigs and Pass The Pigs Party
What is it about pigs that makes then so damn cute? I know that they're animals that love mud and generally look rather dirty, but so many people love pigs, especially kids. As a child I remember being incredibly envious of a friend who had the Pass The Pigs game as it was quite simply so much fun. Pass the Pigs for Xmas! You’ll be snorting with laughter if you play with these piggy games for Christmas. The original party animals, Pass the Pigs, use hilarious pigs for dice. Will you roll a sider or start makin' bacon? Having fun with friends, on the road entertainment, or just chilling ... read more
Celebrating Christmas with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays
Christmas is going to be different this year. A different home. A different shaped family. But even with all the changes that have gone on over the last year some things will also remain the same - for the children's sake more than anything else. After a difficult year though (that shows no signs of getting calmer any time soon) I feel ready to pause the day-to-day madness and spend time with my family and celebrate the festive season. With December up on us and decorations up wherever you go I'm even starting to look forward to hearing Christmas music in the coffee shops I work in most ... read more
Bedtime stories with The Book People and WIN a bundle of picture books
When I first discovered I was pregnant with Little Miss C one of the things I really looked forward to was being able to snuggle up and share bedtime stories with a little one. I've always loved books, and remember loving them as a child too and so wanted to share that with a child of my own. That happened and I'm delighted to say that LMC now loves books and reading about as much as I did when I was a child. It was wonderful seeing how in awe she was to meet Jacqueline Wilson recently and made me so happy to see her getting that pleasure from meeting an author. Little Miss C may now be 7 ... read more
New Year, New You – resolving to catch up with the classics #NewYearNewYou
As a kid I just didn't really watch films. I'm not totally sure why though. Maybe it was because we didn't really go out to the cinema much. Or maybe it was because there were no DVD players or VHS recorders, so the only films you watched at home were when they were on the TV. Whatever the reason though, now I'm an adult I do feel that there are massive massive gaps in my film education. When conversations come round to films I often find myself making excuses, or even just staying quiet as I simply haven't seen what everyone else is talking about, or in some cases I've not even heard of the ... read more
Coronation Street: The Official Colouring Book – Review & Giveaway
There was a stage in my life when Coronation Street was pretty much part my religion. Back in the days before on demand TV I'd make sure I was sat on the sofa at 7.30 in an evening ready to hear that famous theme tune. In the rare event that I was out the video recorder would be set and I'd come home hoping that no one had recorded over it whilst I was out. As a Northern family we didn't really do Eastenders as that was full of Southerners and it was just all too gritty for us. And whilst Corrie was from the "wrong side of the Pennines" it still found a place in my heart for many, many ... read more
Review and Competition: GoldieBlox and The Spinning Machine
GoldieBlox has been a firm favourite toy in our household ever since we first got to play with it when it was launched in the UK last summer. Being the first real engineering toy aimed mainly at girls I was always going to take a keen interest in it and I've been very impressed with what I've seen so far. We were delighted therefore to be asked to specifically review GoldieBlox and the Spinning Machine as it's probably my favourite GoldieBlox set. The main concept behind GoldieBlox is that girls learn slightly differently from boys and as such GoldieBox features a unique story approach to ... read more
Help LMC start to fulfil her travel dreams
http://instagram.com/p/dq7bB5xIyM/?modal=true Little Miss C has a bit of an obsession with travel right now. Mr C and I went to Paris recently and she also had a rather dragged out trip to Gatwick airport to pick her daddy up after he went to The Netherlands for a wedding recently. Add to that the fact that DorkySon (who she still talks about regularly) moved to Tasmania and one of her school friends is about to emigrate to Sydney you can possibly see where her wanderlust is coming from. At Easter one of her other school friends went on a long trip to South Africa, where he has family, and ... read more

Win a Disney Sofia the First trio puzzle to celebrate National Puzzle Day
Who doesn't love a jigsaw? There's something old fashioned but incredibly satisfying about getting all those pieces together in the right places to form the picture on the box lid. And it's even more satisfying when you've managed to complete a particularly difficult bit of sky or grass - as we all know that all those shades of blue or green are incredibly difficult to get right. A few years ago, before children, Mr C bought me a couple as a Christmas present and it was great to sit down and spend a few hours doing them whilst listening to music - incredibly relaxing too. Nowadays I'm most ... read more
