Review: Teksta Micro Pets Raccoon Adventure Park

23/01/2017

Teksta Micro Pets Raccoon Adventure Park

As a family we've not really played with robotic Artificial Intelligence pets before. I've seen the original Teksta puppy being demonstrated, but being sent one of the new generation of Micro Pets was my first change to get my hands on one of these little cuties and try it out for myself. We were sent Raccoon variant of the new Teksta Micro Pets Adventure Park and what you get inside the box is the interactive pet raccoon, plus several pieces of track that can be fitted together, and a ball for your new pet to play with. Now, let's start with the track. This is made of plastic and ... read more

Ladybird Tuesday: Learning to Crochet

17/01/2017

Ladybird Learning to Crochet

I've been trying to bring Ladybird Tuesday back several times now, but each time I appear to get half way through writing a post and then everything goes a bit wrong. This time though I've chosen a title that I do feel very passionate about in the hope that it keeps me on track somewhat - Learning to Crochet! Now, anyone who follows me on Instagram or who has read my post about 2016 in Crochet will know that over the last couple of years I have become a complete crochet addict. I have two crochet blankets on the go at the moment (the Moorland CAL from Lucy at Attic24 and also my third Spice ... read more

New Year, New You – resolving to catch up with the classics #NewYearNewYou

16/01/2017

NewYearNewYou New Year New You Classic Films

As a kid I just didn't really watch films. I'm not totally sure why though. Maybe it was because we didn't really go out to the cinema much. Or maybe it was because there were no DVD players or VHS recorders, so the only films you watched at home were when they were on the TV. Whatever the reason though, now I'm an adult I do feel that there are massive massive gaps in my film education. When conversations come round to films I often find myself making excuses, or even just staying quiet as I simply haven't seen what everyone else is talking about, or in some cases I've not even heard of the ... read more

Unicorn Day: Where my Characters Come From #UnicornDay

12/01/2017

Unicorn Day UnicornDay The Unicorns of Blossom Wood

As part of Unicorn Day, I'm delighted to welcome to Being Mrs C Catherine Coe, author of the Unicorns of Blossom Wood series so that she can tell us about the amazing characters that she created for the series. When I first started writing the Unicorns of Blossom Wood, I knew I wanted a new cast of girl characters who had different personalities and backgrounds. In the Owls of Blossom Wood, the three main characters were best friends who were also next-door neighbours – Alex, Katie and Eva. In the Unicorns of Blossom Wood, I thought it would be nice to give the three girls a different ... read more

Unicorn Day: The Unicorns of Blossom Wood #UnicornDay

Unicorn Day UnicornDay Unicorns of Blossom Wood

Sometimes an email pops into your inbox and you know that something is just going to be a perfect fit for your family and that's exactly what happened when I was asked to take part in Unicorn Day today. Unicorn Day is celebrating the release of the last two books in the Unicorns of Blossom Wood series by children's author Catherine Coe. Catherine has previously written the successful Owls of Blossom Wood series which was really well received by children aged 5 - 8 and this series is aimed at the same age group. Just over a year ago Little Miss C had what they formally call a "development ... read more

Taking tea with Oteas

09/01/2017

oteas tea

Anyone that follows me on social media, especially on Instagram, will know that I'm rather partial to a cup of tea. In fact some people seem to think that I spend all day drinking tea. They may in fact be right. Although I'm quite good at multi-tasking so it's not the only thing I do all day! When an email dropped into my inbox towards the end of last year from Oteas asking if I would like to review some of their teas it didn't exactly take long for me to respond to them. Oteas are a UK based speciality tea company who have a desire to promote an active, healthy and balanced lifestyle, ... read more

My 2016 in crochet

05/01/2017

Crochet Wreath

Now normally reviews of the year come at the end of the year. It's the kind of blog post that people publish between Christmas and New Year as a sort of round up. That was my plan, but like all the best laid plans it didn't happen. Many reasons, but the biggest one being that by the time we got to that weird period between Christmas and New Year I was just absolutely shattered! I also sat down then with a notebook and realised that I actually did far more in 2016 than I'd realised, and just one blog post wasn't going to do the year justice. So, welcome to what is likely to be the first in a ... read more

Review: Thomas the Tank Engine Bedding

21/12/2016

Thomas The Tank Engine Bedding review

"Mummy! When can we go on a train again?" That's the question I hear more often than anything from Master C. He is train obsessed at the moment and seems to like nothing more than us using the family railcard to go somewhere on the Thameslink line, mainly just so he can look out of the window and be all excited about actually being on a train. One of his favourite trips has to be to go just up the line to Luton, as he knows that once there there is a perfectly positioned Starbucks where he can sit in the window and watch not only the trains, but also the buses in the next door bus station ... read more

Vlogmas 2016 – Day 19 #vlogmas16

19/12/2016

Vlogmas 2016 day 19 vlogmas16

AWOL over the weekend (sorry!) but vlogmas is still ongoing. Just! It's been a busy pre-Christmas weekend. We went off to see the panto at the Albans Arena, actually went "out out" to a Christmas party where I got to talk to grownups without a child hanging off my leg, and another podcast was released out into the wild. If you're interested in the These People Podcast then it can be found on iTunes or all other good podcast apps, or you can listen via our website at http://www.thesepeoplepodcast.com And if you fancy coming on as a guest then just tweet me or tweet the team. And if you want to ... read more

How to Be an Energy Shopper

19/12/2016

Be An Energy Shopper

It can't have escaped your notice that the temperatures have plummeted over the last couple of weeks. In my mind it's reached the levels where putting the heating on is no longer an option, especially when you have children in the house. But, that decision isn't always straightforward if you're having to watch the pennies at home. These days you really do need to "Be an Energy Shopper" to make sure you're getting the best, most cost effective energy deals for you. The whole process can be a tad daunting though, which is why I was actually quite thrilled to be asked to take a look at Ofgem's ... read more
