Tyres – the most important part of your car

08/03/2019

When you next sit in your car driving somewhere please spare a thought for the often over-looked part of your car that actually touches the road surface. I'm talking about your car's tyres. Yet tyres often seem to be something that people think about more as an after thought after things like the engine and brakes. But without tyres it doesn't matter what else you have to make up your car. Tyres serve four main purposes in a car: Provide grip with the road, allowing you to safely accelerate and brake Enable you to steer the car in a controlled manner Support the weight of ... read more

Making sure your car stops safely as well as starts

27/02/2019

When you first learn to drive there's a certain thrill when you put your foot down on the accelerator for the first time. Knowing that you are responsible for making that vehicle move. For starting a journey in it. There's something you learn pretty soon after that though. Making the vehicle stop again. Yet we don't seem to talk about using the brakes quite as much as I think we ought to. Yes, driving is all about going forwards. Getting from A to B. But at the same time you want to be able to stop safely when you get to where you are going, and you also need to be able to drive safely ... read more

The Importance of Buying the Right Tyres for Your Car Model

11/02/2019

You might not realise it but the type of tyres you choose for your car should always be appropriate for the particular model you drive. Properly fitting tyres which are optimised for your exact model of car will help you to maintain better traction, stop more rapidly and avoid spinning out of control if you need to swerve at late notice. In short, correct tyres keep you and your occupants safe when you are out on the road. What ... read more

Don’t forget your Car this Christmas

17/12/2018

Don't panic. I have not totally lost the plot. I'm not about to sit here in a sleep-deprived new baby state and suggest that you need to buy your car gifts and hang a stocking up from the rear view mirror on Christmas Eve, but I am going to write about how you need to remember your car this Christmas, and in winter in general. I know that a fair amount of our Christmas is going to be spent on the road, travelling up and down the country to visit various family members. I'm pretty sure we're not the only people who will be spending time on the country's motorways doing so. When you think ... read more

Goodbye old car, hello new family bus!

Change, change, change. That's what life has been full of recently. At times it is utterly exhausting, but there's certainly no chance of me being bored in the near future and I'm one of those people who seems to thrive from being busy. One of the latest big changes has been saying goodbye to my trusty old set of wheels and buying a new (to us) car. It's not a step that I was expecting to take as I'd always assumed that my old Skoda estate would keep going forever. I'd had it since LMC was only about six months old and since then it had been on numerous trips around the country, carted a ... read more
