A finished blanket for baby

18/12/2010

What now seems like a lifetime ago I started knitting baby blanket for the little girl that was simply then known as Baby C. As we celebrated Little Miss C's six month half-birthday last week I was delighted to have finally finished! Admittedly there is still some blocking to do and a couple of loose ends to weave in, but the majority of the work is definitely complete and you have no idea how relieved I am to say that. The excitement of also being able to start new knitting projects is also a lovely feeling that I've not had for a while now. A perfect excuse for staying in warm and ... read more

Autumn Clean

26/10/2010

You hear of people having a Spring Clean, but I think I'm currently in the middle of an Autumn Clean instead! I've got a strange desire to tidy, clean and sort things at the moment. No idea why as it is very unlike me. One area that has got a lot of attention lately are my sewing and knitting stashes. They'd got a bit out of control lately with piles of yarn, fabric and threads all threatening to fall off shelves whenever I went looking for something. Some lovely (cheap) storage boxes from Wilkos helped and certainly look much better on my shelves than the precarious ... read more

Get knotted hat

28/09/2010

You may remember that back in August I knitted a first hat for Baby C. A second quickly followed, this time in a plain colour, just in case Baby C was not a stripe lover. Little Miss C has not (yet) expressed a preference in the stripes vs plain debate, but it just happened that the plain one was in my bag the other day when I noticed how there was that slight chill in the air and thought that I ought to wrap her up warm while we were out and about.  I know I'm biased, but she really does just look good enough to eat! ... read more

Crafting for baby

27/09/2010

Real progress has been made here now that I've got a little bit of "me" time again.  The Ten in the Bed cross-stitch that I started back at the beginning of February (nearly eight months ago!) is finally finished. Well, I say finished, the sewing part is finished. I still need to wash it, mount it and frame it though before it can be hung on the wall in Little Miss C's nursery. I just hope that it won't be another eight months before this happens!  This is the view that I have most evenings now that the sewing is complete. There's still a long ... read more

Getting back to “normal”

05/08/2010

Little Miss C is eight weeks old today. Eight weeks! Where has the time gone. From a small baby who came into the house and did little more than sleep, eat and fill her nappy, I am instead looking down at a bigger baby playing on her play mat, making noises, hitting the toys hung above her and occasionally breaking into a smile too. The transformation has been amazing and it seems that every day there is some small change that we can marvel over. Now that we're both getting used to each other we're learning to live with each other pretty well. I'm incredibly lucky as she's not a ... read more

Thank you Rattling On!

14/07/2010

I'm often amazed at the kindness of fellow bloggers and once again I'm feeling that way today too!My MIL came to visit at lunch time with a package for Little Miss C from the lovely Dawn over at Rattling On. The absolute darling that she is has knitted this adorable cardigan for Little Miss C. The colour is perfect (as her daughter says very "this year") and I'm in love with the buttons and desperate to know where she got them from. As you can see it goes perfectly with LMC's outfit this afternoon (a gift from her Auntie) and she was very happy to ... read more

Blanket for baby

07/04/2010

As promised, a quick peak at the blanket I am knitting for Baby C. The pattern is the Ziggy Blanket from The fourth little Sublime hand knit book and I'm using Rowan Cashsoft DK in shade 515 (tape). The pattern's not a difficult one, but does require to keep your wits about you so that you remember just how many to knit and purl on each row!Now I just need to make sure I finish the whole thing within the next couple of months! ... read more

A chocolate filled Easter

06/04/2010

It's been an Easter weekend that I think I'm going to remember most for the variety of chocolate consumed whilst doing a million and one other things! There was only time for one bit of baking though which was an opportunity to try out a new seasonal recipe. I've had the card for Waitrose's Chocolate Nest Cakes for years (possibly since 2001 looking at the date on it!) and have only just got round to trying these, although as I needed to transport them to a friend's house in the car I made them into Easter cupcakes rather than nests so that they went in a tin ... read more

First hat for Baby C

08/03/2010

I don't seem to have done much knitting of late as most of the time I've been concentrating on the cross-stitch picture that I'm hoping to hang on the nursery wall. Things may change though as Mr C recently bought me a couple of little Sublime hand knit books that feature the most gorgeous designs for babies. The morning he gave them to me I spent about an hour sitting there just looking at the lovely pictures - everything in there is just so cute!I don't know as yet as to whether Baby C is going to be of the pink or blue "variety" but one thing is for sure, as soon ... read more
