At Christmas time it always seems that restaurants up their prices and offer over the top fixed price menus whilst the best theatre and gig tickets are sold out months in advance. But don’t despair, there are still plenty of thrifty options to keep you and your date happy this Christmas.
Visit a Christmas Market
You no longer need to travel to Europe to find a good Christmas market, with loads of British towns and cities running their own in the run up to the biog day. They might not be able to offer the snow and freezing cold temperatures of their overseas equivalents, but they are still lovely places to wander round arm in and arm and stop off for a gluhwine or a festive hot chocolate.
Go on a Christmas Lights Trail
It’s no longer just local councils who pay for Christmas lights. Nowadays there are loads of individuals who decide to decorate the outside of they houses in some way or another for the pleasure of anyone passing. There’s everything from full on lights displays that couple possibly be seen from outer space (!) right through to more subtle window displays. A quick search online should tell you what there is in your area and then you and your Christmas date can spend a evening discovering them all together. Apart from some of the more organised folk who collect for charity they’re perfect for a free evening out.
Christmas Jumper-off
Charity shops are full of Christmas jumpers at this time of year and that can be the perfect basis for a cheap, fun date. Why not head to your local charity shop and pick out a jumper for each other. The only rule is that you have the promise to wear what the other person chooses for you!
Sleep under the Christmas Tree
There is something totally magical about a room only lit by the lights on a Christmas Tree. Why not make the most of it and spend a night sleeping under the tree? Lots of cushions or a mattress on the living room floor and a perfect excuse to snuggle up together.
Christmas Movie Marathon
Whatever your preference in movie styles, you can’t go wrong with a selection on Christmas movies. Either find something on Netflix or Amazon Prime, or pick up some cheap DVDs in your local charity shop and snuggle together on the sofa to enjoy some cheesy Christmas movie action. Add some popcorn and hot chocolate and it’s far cheaper (and comfier) than going to the cinema.
Don’t fear if you haven’t yet found that someone special to spend Christmas with. There are online dating sites covering all of the country – from Devon singles in the south, through to Bedfordshire dating in the Home Counties and up to Yorkshire dating in the north. Not forgetting the various islands of the country – there’s even Isle of Man dating and Jersey dating to help ensure that the whole country can find there Mr (or Mrs) Right.
