Planning Trip Overseas? This Pre-travel Checklist is What You Need

10/12/2020

If there’s something that tops every traveler’s bucket list, it’s international travel. Whether it’s about traveling to a neighboring country or somewhere halfway around the world—there’s so much to explore.

Isn’t it?

But one needs to focus on more essential parameters than the aesthetics, scenery, food, culture, and weather alone when traveling abroad. Plus, with COVID-19 overtaking the lives, one needs to consider many factors to make their first trip overseas equally adventurous and exciting. From understanding travel guidelines, travel essentials, taking a pet abroad, and travel insurance, this guide will help you make sure your trip overseas is safe and enjoyable.

Let’s begin!

Pre-travel Checklist- Here’s What You Need

Traveling is a great way to leave all the stress behind. But it can only be possible if you plan your travel ahead of time. Wait!! We are not talking about booking flights, hotels, or packing. You must keep a check on all the variables concerning health, safety, and financial necessities. To save you some time, we have enlisted some of the items you must never miss when planning an international trip.

Review Your Passport and Apply For Visa

While it’s impossible to remember your passport’s expiration date, verifying it once will make it easier for further steps. Ideally, the validity of your passport must be around six months before entering a country. Other than that, tourist visas must be arranged before visiting your dream destination. Or else you will miss out on your Adventure. However, the rules for applying for visas vary from one country to another. You can check your state department’s website to validate all the data regarding visas online.

Keep a Check on health advisories and travel warnings

Before leaving for any country, ensure that you have all the health and medical certificates in check. You must also keep a check on your travel destination’s health advisories to avoid any last-minute cancellations. For instance, with COVID-19 impacting many countries, keeping a check on the health departments of those countries would help you decide the travel essentials to avoid any safety concerns while traveling.

Get vaccinations and fill prescriptions

Make sure to go through the health website of that country to get yourself vaccinated for diseases mentioned in the list. Doctors often recommend taking vaccination six weeks prior to leaving. Moreover, taking vaccinations before leaving can save you from the burden of spending huge amounts of money in the destination country.

Also, if you have any ongoing conditions requiring medications, make sure to get the prescriptions’ photocopies. That way, you won’t land yourself in any legal troubles at airport checkpoints.

Don’t forget to buy travel insurance

Travel insurance is often recommended when you are going to an unknown destination. Although many travel insurance companies did not include pandemic in their guidelines, a lot of companies are thinking of adding this in their insurance policies.

So, consider buying travel insurance that protects you from any unexpected consequences in the host country.

In the End,

Traveling is all about fun and adventure. Undoubtedly, no one loves to make it a troubling event. Isn’t it? So, it’s important to keep in mind the key essentials before flying away to your favorite travel destination.
