Over a year ago, before Master C was born, we started talking about getting an aquarium and some fish for Little Miss C. We then started looking into what was involved with the hope of having these new members of the family before Master C made his appearance. However, having discovered just how much there is to know and along with everything else that was going on in our lives at the time, it just never happened. Move forwards a year and I received an email from SwellUK saying that they were looking for family bloggers to work with. Exactly the motivation we needed to finally make ... read more
Review: Everything’s Rosie – Now You See Me, Now You Don’t
Little Miss C is a HUGE Everything's Rosie fan here and she was absolutely delighted when we were asked to review the latest DVD - Everything's Rosie: Now You See Me, Now You Don't. This DVD of Series 2 features 13 episodes in total giving it a total running time of nearly two and a half hours. Rosie lives in a very brightly coloured playhouse with her best friend Raggles the rabbit. In a twist that my daughter loves the playhouse is up a tree and has a large helter skelter like slide to take Rosie down to ground level. I think Little Miss C might be a bit more ... read more
Review: Cow & Gate 100% fruit pouches
Ever since Master C started on "solid" food at 4 months old he's really struggled with things that aren't smooth. It took until he was about ten months old to be able to eat puree with any texture without gagging on it. Finger food has been a complete disaster as a result, so I'm constantly worried about whether or not he's easting a balanced diet and getting enough fruit and veg. As a result of all this I feel like I've become a bit of an expert when it comes to baby food, and in particular fruit. I'm constantly reading labels and trying to work out ... read more
Review: Bigjigs Marble Run
Well, it's fair to say I've had a fair bit of fun testing out the Bigjigs Marble Run that we were sent to review as part of our role on the Play Patrol. Part of this particular challenge was to create a video, so here you are! It's very hard to convey all our thoughts in a video though, so just to give you a few pros and cons... As soon as Little Miss C saw the box she was very excited - even in an age of electronic toys there's something about marbles that is still magical. She instantly wanted mummy and daddy to set it up as per the box. The problem being that a three year ... read more
Why this week I’m going to shout praise for Tesco!
On my Working with Mrs C page I've always said that if a company really impresses me then I'm more than happy to provide them with some free advertising here on my blog. In the past I've happily dished out some of this free love to small independents and local shops, but today it's time to actually give praise to a huge company who I know already have a substantial advertising budget. But, they've impressed me so much with one little thing that I want to tell you about it here anyway. The company in question is Tesco and what has impressed me so much is actually ... read more
Review : Ecover Bio Laundry Gel
I've been a fan of Ecover products for several years now so I was rather pleased to be asked if I wanted to review some of their range. I first chose to try the range as I was impressed by the company's eco credentials and then I found that I really liked the products too. Win, win. First up I was sent a bottle of the Ecover Bio Laundry Gel. Now, I should say that I normally use the Ecover non-Bio Laundry Liquid for all the household laundry and I've been happy with it for a couple of years now, so that is what I will be comparing the laundry gel to. The first big difference I ... read more
Review: Washable Cleansing Pads
Since meeting and chatting to Jackie from Green and Natural Living at BritMums Live! in June I have been putting a huge amount more thought into just how green I'm managing to be at the moment. In some areas I'm sure I actually score quite highly, but there are others where I know I could, and should, pull my socks up. The amount of waste that I'm putting into my "black" bin for landfill each fortnight is creeping up and I'm determined to do something about it. I'm currently running a little exercise where I'm trying to keep track of everything ... read more
Making the most of my TASSIMO in the hot weather
Back in June I was asked to become one of the bloggers working with TASSIMO to help promote their brand. Now, whilst I love my tea (being a Yorkshire lass) I am also rather partial to a nice cup of coffee. I hardly ever drink instant coffee at home, but when out I do treat myself to a "fancy" coffee, especially when at my weekly knitting group meet-ups. The idea of being able to make good coffee at home really did appeal, especially as it was supposed to be so easy. For the first month I really enjoyed being able to make myself a latte, cappuccino, or even a caramel macchiato ... read more
Introducing… lucypeachslice
I love finding local gems here in St Albans and lucypeachslice is most definitely a local gem. From the quirky name (after a guinea pig called Lucy who arrived in a carboard box that had once carried tins of peach slices!) to the unique funky clothes they sell, lucypeachslice is not your run-of-the-mill children's clothing range. Based here in St Albans, the company was founded earlier this year after their creator turned her attentions from making clothes for her own daughters and their friends, to designing and curating her first collection for little girls. All the fabrics are ... read more
Review: Hotter Shoes
When I like a brand I tend to talk about it. That's just the way I am and over the years my friends and family have just got used to that. Or got better at ignoring me! Over the last few weeks I've been testing a pair of shoes that I was sent to review from Hotter Shoes and, as usual, I mentioned to quite a few people that I was doing so and how I was getting on with them. What surprised me was their reactions. Now I have to admit that up until another blogger told me they were looking for reviewers I hadn't actually heard of Hotter Shoes before. It seems I was in a bit of a ... read more
