Introducing… lucypeachslice

21/07/2013

I love finding local gems here in St Albans and lucypeachslice is most definitely a local gem.

From the quirky name (after a guinea pig called Lucy who arrived in a carboard box that had once carried tins of peach slices!) to the unique funky clothes they sell, lucypeachslice is not your run-of-the-mill children's clothing range.

Based here in St Albans, the company was founded earlier this year after their creator turned her attentions from making clothes for her own daughters and their friends, to designing and curating her first collection for little girls. All the fabrics are designed by lucypeachslice and are based on personal photographs, both from family holidays abroad and also everyday life – this summer 2013 collection was inspired by a friend's wedding. This photography based design makes things really unique in a way that I've not seen before.

What I really like about lucypeachslice is how all the clothes can be either dressed up or down. Now, whilst that may sound like a slightly strange thing to say with children's clothes it really is true. These dresses and skirts honestly would look just at home in the local playground as they would attending a party.

As well as the dresses and skirts the collection also includes two t-shirts, in acidic green and raspberry pink, to work with the skirts in the collection. They both feature the lovely statement "friend at first sight" across the front. We were sent one of these t-shirts for Little Miss C to review and several other mums have already come up to me and said what a nice positive message it is to see a child wearing.

The t-shirt was a huge hit with LMC and she instantly fell in love with the color and kept asking me over and over to tell her what the "letters" on it said. From a practical level it has washed really nicely, maintaining it's soft feel and not fading at all, either through washing or hanging on the line in the bright sunshine to dry.

I love the look of the whole lucypeachslice collection and am already looking forward to seeing what they come up with next. If you want something truly unique for your little girl then please look no further. You'll also be helping to support a local business too – always a bonus.

The lucypeachslice range is for girls ages 2 to 12 years and is available through their website here. Please note that due to the summer holiday any orders placed between 22 July and 6 August will be fulfilled on the 7 August.

Disclaimer: We were sent a t-shirt in exchange for writing this profile and review of lucypeachslice.
