Ways to Relax on the Weekend

28/04/2025

After a long week of work, errands, non-stop notifications and meetings, all you want to do is unwind. But let’s be honest, sometimes we pack our weekends with even more being busy and forget to actually rest.

If you’re looking for a few easy ways to truly relax and recharge. Here are some simple no pressure ideas that will help you to make the most of your downtime.

  1. Disconnect from the office. It sounds obvious here, but this is the weekend, so turn off the work emails and work notifications. If they’re not paying you for overtime, you shouldn’t be doing any. Even a quick check in on a Saturday morning can mentally drag you right back into weekday mode. How are you supposed to relax without setting any clear boundaries? Give yourself permission to unplug from work. This is not laziness because they’re not paying you for these extra hours.
  2. Take yourself outside. Even if you haven’t got much money and you don’t have anywhere to go, that doesn’t stop you from going outside to enjoy nature. Find a local safe hiking system and go and take to the mountainside. Go walk in the dirt and explore the view and breathe in the air. Even if you don’t have a hiking trail in your area or no interest in hiking, go sit on the balcony with a cup of tea. Being outside can really reset your system. You don’t have to be in a full blown adventure, just 20 minutes of fresh air is all you need.
  3. Give yourself permission to slow down. Instead of rushing into the day, you can treat yourself at a slow pace. Sleep in a little bit, make your favorite breakfast, sip your coffee or tea without multitasking unless it’s to read the newspaper. Play some music as you do your usual chores, open a window and stay in your pajamas a little bit longer than usual. A relaxed morning can set that calm tone for the entire weekend.
  4. Use the right products. Relaxation looks different to everybody. For some people, it’s a warm bath, for others it’s meditation. Then there are those who choose to use vapes with CBD in them to feel more centred and at ease. If that’s something you’re exploring, a brand like Hidden CBD can offer thoughtful options designed for those moments when you need to slow down a little. As always, consult with a professional if you’re new to wellness products.
  5. Be OK with doing nothing. This one is actually surprisingly hard. In a culture that celebrates hustle and productivity, doing nothing can feel unproductive. But who says rest isn’t productive in itself? Stillness is as important as being productive, so give yourself permission to lay on the couch, stare out the window, or take an unplanned nap. Your body and mind will thank you for it.

Weekends are your time to shine. Sit down, let go of the work week and enjoy 48 hours with no pressure except for the things you choose.
