Inspirational Crafting Materials To Brighten Up Your Creations

If you love crafting, you’ll know that it all comes down to technique and materials. If you can get both of these elements right, you’re onto something special.

But what inspirational crafting materials should you be using? That’s the topic of this post. We look at some of the items you could incorporate into your projects to generate stunning results your friends, family, and customers will love. So, without further ado, let’s take a look:

Leverage Mixed Media

The first place we’d start is to use more mixed media. Instead of making your creations bland and monochrome, use various items from different locations and shops to put patchwork creations together.

For example, some people create a fabric collage and then paint over it. Others coat their papiermaché ornaments with gold lacquer. It’s really up to you.

For garments, try to include prints alongside regular sewing and knitting. This approach creates more contrast and helps to make your creations more interesting. It also opens up the possibility of creating something that’s genuinely unique.

Use Bright And Bold Elements

When crafting at home, you also want to add plenty of bright and bold elements to your designs and creations. These help them stand out and make them more visually interesting in ways regular people can appreciate.

What’s more, you can use these colors to add pops of personality to your inventions. The more of these you use, the more likely they are to stand out, particularly if you plan to sell them on marketplaces.

Add Stickers

If you are making products to sell on Etsy or another platform, always ensure they look the part. It needs to look professional.

One way to achieve this is with vinyl stickers. You can print on these and stick them onto the packaging to provide a personalized appearance.

Another approach is to use metallic paints and similar elements. These add shine while also making your project brighter, encouraging you to stick it out until the end.

Rub-ons can also be effective (and simple to apply if you have the right tools). You can use these to create patterns and structure on your creations that wouldn’t be possible without them as templates.

Add Natural Materials

While they might be less popular, you could also brighten up your craft creations with natural materials. These add an element of depth and sustainability to your creations, letting you feel proud of what you’re making.

For example, you could include wood and flowers in your crafts. You could also add stone, just like the early humans did.

Just beware – these materials will make whatever you create look more rustic. So don’t use them if you want to create something modernist.

Finally, you could brighten up your creations by using materials in new ways that most people wouldn’t consider. For example, you could make use of the items in your recycling bin to make a wall, or use wine corks as elements on a toy you are trying to create. Whatever it is, be inventive.
