Working from home is the dream of many people. However, working from home is not all fun, and games there are challenges involved. Working from home can involve long hours just like in the office.

The only difference is that you will be in your own space and you have a little bit more autonomy to work whenever you want. With that being said, many people are finding that working from home makes it more difficult for them to prioritize self-care.

If you’re not careful you can burn out just as you would if you were working from an office. Here are some tips that will help you avoid this.

Have Clear Boundaries

When you work from home your work life and your home life can collide. You need to make sure that there is a clear distinction between your working hours and your time for yourself and your family.

Have working hours just as you would if you were working in an office. When your work time is over stop taking work notifications or doing anything work-related.

Have a designated spot in your home where you work. This could be in a corner of your living room or dining room. If you have the luxury of having a home office, this is even better.

Create Routines

One of the most important things you need to do is to set routines. Even when you are working from home you will find that this is essential if you want to stay on track and be able to keep your boundaries in place.

Maintaining your routine means that you need to set up a schedule for your working hours and what you will do during each hour. You could also try time blocking where you do specific activities for a set amount of time. This is a very effective technique that can help you organize your days.

By having this type of routine you will be better able to find time for your self-care and relaxation.

Plan Your Self Care Routine

Once you have put your boundaries in place and have created routines for your work life, it is time to prioritize self-care.

You can create a self-care routine. Your self-care routine does not have to be complicated. It can be as simple as taking a bubble bath while enjoying music, and wine.

It may involve taking some time to go to a spa or you may decide to host a get-together for your family and friends in your backyard. If you do decide to host an event like this, make sure that you do not overstress yourself.

Try ordering food online and drinks from places such as Sweet&Chilli so that the only pressure you have is to enjoy yourself.

Take Care of Yourself

Creating a work-life balance is important if you want to make sure that you are taking care of yourself while working from home. Making the effort to consciously carve out a routine for your self-care will go a long way in protecting your emotional and physical health.
