Five Ways To Be Green While Working From Home

01/06/2022

Working from home has numerous environmental advantages.

Because they do not have to commute, remote workers typically have lower carbon footprints. Fortunately, there are many additional ways to reduce your environmental effect while working from home. From reading blogs like Abe Issa solar to reducing your energy consumption there are many things you can do to be greener while working from home.

Here are five simple working from home sustainability tips.

Use Eco-Friendly Office Supplies

Did you know that the average office worker produces approximately 2 pounds of garbage per day? Fortunately, today’s products can assist us in increasing our efficiency. The secret is to utilize waste-free or biodegradable office materials. Paperless notebooks are an excellent tool for this.

It is critical to use office supplies that keep you comfortable, productive, and organised. However, many office products are composed of plastic or other environmentally hazardous materials. Using bamboo-based materials is much better for the environment. Bamboo, for example, decomposes faster than plastic while remaining just as strong.

Use Biodegradable Pens

Any office worker must have a nice pen. Throwing away plastic pens, on the other hand, can be harmful to the environment. Biodegradable pens created from recycled materials are a more environmentally friendly option. Among the options are:

  • Pilot Pens Made From Recycled Plastic Bottles
  • Recycled Pens
  • Eco-Pen Made From Recycled Cardboard

Although this is a small change, it can make a big difference.

Adjust Your Thermostat

Adjusting your thermostat two degrees higher in the summer and two degrees lower in the winter can save up to 2,000 pounds of CO2 every year! You might also use an energy-saving thermostat that preserves energy automatically. The Nest Thermostat, for example, programs itself to save energy. It learns your preferred temperatures and creates a schedule that saves electricity and money.

Unplug Devices As Often As Possible

When electronic equipment are plugged in but not in use, they use energy. Everything that is plugged in consumes energy from the grid, putting undue strain on the environment. This is known as “Vampire Energy.” Start by unplugging electrical gadgets that aren’t in use to boost sustainability while working from home. This could include unplugging your cell phone, computer, coffee machine, microwave, or television when not in use. Make it a habit to turn off and unplug all office equipment at the end of each day.

Decrease the Brightness Of Your Computer Monitor

One easy way you can go greener while working from home is to decrease the brightness of your computer monitor. Lowering the brightness of your computer monitor can save up to 20% of its electricity. Less energy means less environmental stress! You may be surprised by how much of a difference it makes.

There are tons of small steps you can take that will make working from home more sustainable. Be the change you want to see! Is there anything that you are already doing to be more green while working from home? We would love to hear some of your ideas and methods in the comments section below.
