4 Tips to Choosing your Wedding Dress

31/01/2022

Choosing a wedding dress may seem like the least of your worries when planning a wedding, but (it shouldn’t) that’s not true. In fact, based on a survey by Vashi Dominguez, 80% of women said that they had regrets about their wedding dress.

As you probably guessed, one of their main regrets was their wedding dress. 30% of brides said they would have swapped their dress for a different one after looking at their photos. Sad, right? Of course.

Choosing a wedding dress can be complicated or easy, depending on your approach. If you aren’t sure of how to select a wedding dress in Atlanta, here are some helpful tips to guide you.

1. Do your research

So, you want to purchase a wedding dress for your big day. Before hitting any boutique, we recommend you do your research. What type of dress do you want? Is it a ball gown wedding dress? Mermaid? Strapless? Backless or trumpet?

What about the color and features? You can leverage magazines, click through bridal boutiques online, and explore Pinterest too. 21.59% of brides say they leverage Pinterest to find inspiration for their wedding dresses.

Alternatively, you can check out what celebrity brides are wearing. After doing the necessary research, the next step is to compile your preferences. Afterwards, look for a connecting theme. Are they all long sleeves, chiseled bodies or backless? Find the style you like and shop based on your ideas.

2. Determine your budget

Before visiting the bridal shop, sit down and set a budget. The national average cost of a wedding dress is between $1 631 and $4,000 for luxury brands. With that in mind, you can set a budget. Refusing to set a budget before visiting the bridal shop may result in you overspending. Also, while setting a budget, you might want to consider who is paying for the gown. Is it your family, partner, or you?

3. Shop early

Shopping for your wedding dress isn’t something you should delay. As a rule of thumb, you should start shopping for your wedding dress six to nine months before the big day. It takes around four months or less—if you live in Atlanta—to make a dress and an extra two months to finish the adjustments.

Very detailed gowns will take longer. Of course, some shops rush orders for an extra fee, but your options will likely be limited. So, rather than wait till a few weeks to the d-day, try to visit a reliable atlanta bridal shop to know about what all you need. With that out of the way, you can focus on other pressing issues like the venue and other arrangements for your Atlanta wedding.

4. Be open to ideas

When shopping for a wedding dress, you should do so with an open mind. Of course, you may have some scintillating ideas of your own, but sometimes, it makes sense to hear the bridal consultant out. These individuals are professionals when selecting wedding attire, floral arrangements or registries, etc. So you are sure that whatever idea they bring to the table will help you select the perfect dress for your wedding.

Conclusion

Ensure you consult with a few family members and friends, and of course, your spouse before making a final decision on your wedding dress. Ask for their opinion for feedbacks. Doing so may come in handy in selecting a wedding dress that makes you look gorgeous and your big day a talk of the town.
