So whether you’re looking for something gentle to do or you want an activity with a bit more of a thrill, you can find a hobby that will help you to get outdoors more. Gardening

Depending on what type of gardening you do, it can be something gentle that you dabble in or it might be something that requires a little more effort. Photography
It might not be the first hobby that you think of when you want to get outside more. But photography is a great way to expand your horizons and spend more time outdoors. When you’re engaged with photography as a hobby, it can encourage you to go looking for new things to photograph. Getting outside will enable you to look for new subjects, whether you want to take photos of nature or you’re more interested in man-made things. Just take your camera and go looking for something, or perhaps even plan a photo shoot with some friends. With a good camera on your phone, you don’t even need a separate camera.
Fishing
Some people might find the idea of fishing boring, but it can be as relaxing or exciting as you want it to be. There are different types of fishing that you can enjoy, whether you do it from the banks of a river, wade into the water, or set off on a boat. It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors and to get some peace and quiet. You can take in your surroundings while you’re waiting to get a bite, which can be a great time to relax, think, or maybe talk to your fishing friends.
Keeping Bees
Beekeeping might once have been a fairly unusual hobby, but it has grown popular in recent years. People want to help support bee populations and pollination, and you can also get honey out of it. There are plenty of resources focusing on beekeeping for beginners, so you can learn the basics and go from there. You don’t even necessarily need a lot of space to start keeping bees. As long as you have enough space for one hive, it could be for you. It will get you outdoors too, and it can be a good hobby to enjoy along with gardening.

Hiking
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that hiking will help you to get outdoors. Hiking is something that you can do with other people or that, once you have some experience, you can also do on your own. Some people like to talk while they hike, but it can also be a good way to be alone with your thoughts and take in the scenery. A hike might mean going up a mountain, but it doesn’t have to be. You could explore walking trails and other options that are perfect for hiking. Just make sure you’re well-prepared before you go on a hike.
Geocaching
Another way to explore the outdoors is to try out geocaching. If you feel like walking and hiking are a bit pointless, geocaching gives you goals to meet. It involves using navigation to look for hidden containers (geocaches) that have interesting things inside them. You can use a GPS device and other navigation techniques to find what you’re looking for. There are millions of geocaches around the world for you to find, and you can tick them off as you find them.
Astronomy
Stargazing is the perfect activity for anyone who likes to enjoy the outdoors in the evening. While anyone can take a look at the stars at night, you could also develop an interest in astronomy (not to be confused with astrology). A telescope will allow you to take a closer look at the night sky, although you don’t necessarily need to have one. You can identify stars, planets, satellites, and anything else that you might see in the sky at night.
Keep Chickens
If beekeeping doesn’t sound like your sort of thing, you might consider keeping another type of animal. You don’t need to have a huge amount of space for a few chickens, and they can be a lot of fun to keep. They’re surprisingly affectionate and playful, and they can give you eggs too. One of the important things you’ll need to do is to create a secure enclosure for them, especially if there are predators around that could be interested in them. Make sure you educate yourself about owning chickens before you decide to get any.
Camping
Camping is a lot of fun, and you can also do it in a way that suits you. You could find a campsite with lots of facilities and stay in a motorhome if you’re looking for as much comfort as possible. Or you could have a more basic setup and even go wild camping if you’re looking for something a bit more rough and ready. Camping can come with many other activities too, ranging from hiking and mountain biking to stargazing and campfire stories. You can even camp right at home if you don’t want to go anywhere.
If you want to get outdoors more, pick a hobby that will encourage you to leave your home and explore.
