Pet Trends 101- Why Chickens will Become your Beloved Pet?

18/10/2021

This might be quite astonishing to know, but the trend of pets that just involved cats and dogs before is growing exponentially now. Chickens actually have a new status these days. They are not just egg-layers, they are becoming quite the beloved house pet. Chickens actually have personalities and can be quite attached to their caregiver. They are quite curious about the world, just like cats. They are also quite cuddly and have silky-soft feathers. They are quite low maintenance and just need to be fed and let in and out of their coop. We have curated a list of reasons why chickens are the new go-to pets.

They are cheap to keep as pets

Did you know that most dog owners spend more than 20,000-30,000 dollars on their pets every year? Chickens are not only cheaper to keep, but they are also productive backyard friends that give you fresh eggs for the morning. They will not burn through your wallet or even your time. They are quite inexpensive and only require some attention in a day. They live mostly happy and healthy lives and are quite cute though.

Good backyard eggs

What would be better than getting fresh and organic eggs for breakfast every single day? If you have chickens as pets, they will give eggs that are free-range and highly rich in Omega-3 acids and Vitamin E. Store-bought eggs have quite a bit of cholesterol in them, which is not the case with these. According to experts at The Poultry Feed, you need to make sure that you give your pets a high-quality feed for a high-quality return on your eggs. This will be more delicious and even the egg yolks would be brighter than the ones you find at stores.

They are the perfect little garden helper

Do you love to spend time in your garden with your plants? If so, you would love to know that chickens are quite the backyard helpers. They make the best quality compost and manure for your garden to bloom. You can even add their used hemp bedding in your compost bin so that your garden can get a great fertilizer source. They will also help you till your soil in order to aerate it. No garden pest can get past them and they will keep your crops free of damage.

They have personalities

You might have thought that just cats and dogs have proper personalities, but that is only because you have never had a chicken as a pet. Did you know that a chicken can also be funny, cute, and sassy? They are quirky, kooky, and endearing. There are quite a few chicken breeds for you to choose from, and all have different personality traits. You can even let them roam around instead of them being stuck in a coop if you do not have enough space to keep a coop in your backyard.

It is quite important to understand how times are changing and indulge in new directions. Keeping a chicken as a pet can be quite a positive change for you.
