5 activities that helped residents of Oklahoma cope with the lockdown

24/05/2021

The pandemic has been a challenging time for the entire humanity. A lot of people either fell ill or passed away. The tragedies are countless. Apart from these tragedies, there was another worrying factor that led people to face many problems and that was the lockdown. Many nations put the citizens under complete lockdown and they couldn’t leave their house. Mental health issues were creeping up everywhere and people dealt with them in many ways. Let’s take up the state of Oklahoma and see exactly what the residents here did to cope with the negative factors of the lockdown.

Netflix

Probably the most common activity that someone would suggest to beat signs of boredom during the lockdown is to watch Netflix. With a database of thousands of shows and movies, it caters to all sorts of people all over the globe. It is highly addictive and helps kill time. It is perfect for families and for people living alone. Even in Oklahoma, most residents said that Netflix was probably their favorite pastime

Cooking

During the lockdown, a lot of places did not allow for home delivery. Similarly, in Oklahoma, the residents were made to fend for themselves. The people who did not know cooking spent time in learning various recipes and the ones that already knew how to cook simply tried their hand at some exotic dishes. Instagram and Facebook were full of people making new dishes every day and serving them to their family or friends.

Weed

Since its legalization people have been pushing weed into almost every scene. It has certainly shown a  lot of benefits especially towards people who start feeling the onset of mental health problems due to the lockdown. A few puffs of weed and one could forget the next couple of hours. While the lockdown mostly prevented these shops from opening, there were some curbs to these restrictions and places like the tulsa dispensary had a long queue of people waiting to refresh their stock. Most residents are now openly claiming to be avid smokers and are well versed with the advantages the herb has to offer.

Games

What does one do when they have smoked, watched tv and had their fill of food? Well if you have some company at home then you can sit and play some old-fashioned board games or some online games on laptops and tablets. PUBG, Ludo and many such games were popular options for people during the lockdown.

Meditation

Probably the most underrated activity to help people through the lockdown is meditation. Not a lot of people in OK were even aware of it but the ones who did describe it as “the most helpful activity by far”. Meditation is a mental exercise that has proved to be the best and the most natural way to fight signs of mental illness. Researchers are still studying the actual advantages of meditation to simply prove the extent of its effectiveness.

Though there are thousands of other activities one could indulge in, these aforementioned ones are probably the most helpful and most common. The residents of Oklahoma got through the pandemic mostly thanks to these 5 activities but we obviously can not neglect the others.
