Dealing With Health Worries When Traveling

03/03/2021

We all have health worries, and even when we’re going traveling, we don’t just leave them at home! We take them wherever we go, and they can be a real pain as such, and that’s why it’s important to know what to do when you’re headed abroad and you feel something starting to play up.

If you’re someone who’s prone to worrying about their health worries when you’re about to get on a plane or a train, make sure you keep the tips below in mind. Traveling can make even the most hardy of people feel a little anxious or nauseous, and it’s something we need to talk about more!

Figure Out Your Triggers

If you’re someone who experiences some kind of travel anxiety when you go abroad, and this causes a whole host of new problems as a result, it’s a good thing to figure out what triggers your anxiety ahead of time. Ask yourself: What is it about traveling that makes you a bit panicky? Suppose you feel suffocated or intimated while traveling in general class. You may end up feeling uncomfortable in such situations. And things can get worse if it is a long journey. In that case, opting for business class Flights can help minimize your anxiety and provide comfort throughout the trip.

Is it packing? Is it airports? Is it flying? Is it being in another country? All in all, eliminate potential triggers one by one until you get to the core of your anxiety issues, and then confront that. This issue will be much easier to take on when isolated!

Pack Your Meds

Of course, your meds are usually the last thing to either go in a suitcase or a carry on, seeing as you still need them in the time before you go away. However, if you ensure you’ve got some generalised, non prescription meds with you too, you’ll be covered in all eventualities.

For example, you ate some Greek food that really hasn’t agreed with you: some over the counter laxatives you packed in case of this very situation are going to be very helpful! In truth, if it can save you time in a foreign hospital, or save you from having to visit a pharmacy abroad and try to explain your problems in another language, it’s worth packing.

Have a Plan

Finally, you’re going to need to have some kind of contingency plan. Let’s say the hotel never received your booking and they’re full up and you’ve got nowhere to stay – what are you going to do?

Well, double check the booking before you go, and once you’re there, make sure you’ve packed some extra cash, and that you know where the other hotels are in the area, and that your phone data plan allows you to do a bit of on the spot research. As long as you’ve got backup right now, you’re going to be just fine. Take 5 if you need to, but then put your contingency plan into action.

Ultimately, pack what you need to, check on the facilities that are available where you’re going, and make sure you’ve told someone about your potential troubles. If you’re someone who’s traveling with some chronic or persistent health worries, there’s always something you can do.
