The Joys of Starting up Your Own Non-Profit Organisation

13/12/2017

Businesses are made for one major reason: to make money. Sadly, there are times when business owners and entrepreneurs use their business to create new and innovative products for the betterment of the world, but they’re held back by budgets, greedy business practices and other negative things that hold back progress in the world. It’s for that reason that non-profit organizations have been growing in popularity–because they want to remove the negative stigma that all businesses are out to make money instead of caring about the consumer’s interests.

Starting a non-profit organization might be the best decision you’ll make as a budding entrepreneur, and here are some of the joys that come with it.

Wouldn’t it be great to work with people that really cared about their jobs? (Source)

You’ll Do Some Good

Most non-profits exist to do something good for the world. Some good examples of non-profit organizations include American Red Cross, Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders. These are charities, as you may have guessed, but starting a non-profit doesn’t mean that you have to be a charity. There are several non-profit technology companies that have been created to provide working technology to low-income parts of the world, such as One Laptop Per Child which aims to put low-power, low-cost, internet-enabled laptops into the hands of children around the world. Code.org is another non-profit organization that aims to bring computer science to more people around the world.

You’ll Feel Great

Because you’re doing good in the world instead of making money for investors, you’ll naturally be more positive throughout the day and have a better outlook on life. Giving out charity wristbands at your public events will put a smile on your face, receiving kind comments and compliments from the people you directly affect will give you motivation to work, and being a non-profit organization means that you can work with a clear conscience, knowing that you’re not subjected to pressure from greedy corporate veterans.

You Won’t Pay Tax

One of the best advantages is that you don’t pay tax as a non-profit organization. You’re exempt from federal taxes on your income, so this means that all of your income can be put back into your business to pay your staff, grow your company and also pay to increase your exposure so that more people can get on board with your message.

You’ll Work With Fantastic People

Whether it’s sponsoring an event that raises awareness or working together with volunteers that are passionate about the message you want to relay to the world, you’re going to work with some of the most amazing people you’ll ever meet. It’s fantastic to wake up feeling motivated to work alongside hard-working and diligent staff. It’s a far cry from waking up and chugging coffee so that you can stay awake long enough to listen to your boss give you orders.

Starting a non-profit organization could be the best career decision you make if you want to stand out, do some good for the world and feel great about the work you do.
