Dating after Divorce

19/10/2017

dating after divorce

What ever the reason for your divorce, and regardless of whose decision it was, the idea of entering back into dating after divorce can be incredibly scary. Depending on how long you’ve been married, it’s quite likely that the dating scene has changed somewhat from how you remember it.

Don’t let any of that put you off though. No matter what your age or circumstances, dating can be fun. The key thing is to go into it with an open mind and to understand what you want to get out of it. Be realistic with yourself. Do you want to find another life partner, or are you just looking to have some fun?

There’s no right and wrong answer there, it’s just a case of understanding yourself and what is right for you where you are now in life. Years of being in an unhappy marriage, without any elements of fun, might mean that you’re after something without any expectations of a happy ever after ending and just wanting to take each day as it comes. Or it might be that you want to settle down with someone as soon as possible. Set up home together and be talking about marriage and babies within months.

Either of those options is possible, as long as you find someone who wants the same as you. There’s absolutely no point in dreaming of growing old together with someone you’re dating after divorce if they were just expecting it to be a bit of fun and someone to go out with at the weekend. Talk about what your expectations are from the start. Even include it on your dating profile online if you want. No one wants to get their heart broken, especially if you’re only just getting over someone else.

If you have children you need to make sure you also take their feelings into account. You don’t want to be introducing them to someone that you think you could be with for years, only for them to think that you’re both just having some fun until someone else comes along. The same goes for your date if they have children too.

I’m a firm believer in the theory that there is someone out there for everyone, who wants exactly the same thing, but you might need to kiss a few frogs before finding your prince or princess.

If you’re dating after divorce and looking to find that prince or princess then take a look online for the best dating sites. Geographically, wherever you are in the country there is a dating site for you. From a Cornwall dating site in the far south to an Aberdeen dating site in the far north. In the middle of the country you’ve got a dating agency Derbyshire up to Newcastle dating. Just remember to be upfront about what you’re after in your dating profile.
