The Powerpuff Girls Story Maker Dine and Dash Playset

28/02/2017

Powerpuff Girls

I’m not quite sure how the Powerpuff Girls arrived in our lives, but they most certainly did so with a bit of a bang. Little Miss C just suddenly knew all about Blossom, Bubble and Buttercup and their father Professor Utonium. LMC loves nothing more than having strong female role models to look up to and that’s exactly what these girls are. It does seem slightly bonkers though (and makes me feel rather old) that next year the series will be 20 years old. How is that possible???

Powerpuff Girls

LMC was therefore thrilled when I brought home the new Dine and Dash Storymaker playset for her to review. These brilliant new story maker sets from Spin Master are designed to allow children to act out scenes from the Powerpuff Girls and small role play like this has to be one of LMC’s favourite things to do at the moment. There is also a total of three play sets and you can mix and match across the three of them – as LMC was incredibly keen to point out after reading the box!

The Dine and Dash playset is based on a scene from the episode Princess Buttercup where Buttercup is sitting alone at a table in the school cafeteria and having lunch when all of a sudden a group of rollerskaters burst inside. This turns out to be the Derbytantes and they skate all over the place. In this set  you get a small Buttercup action figure and the Derbytantes are flat plastic figures that are knocked over as Buttercup fires a burger at them. Much like this…

The set is really easy to click together straight out of the box and LMC enjoyed positioning all the stickers on it too. Whilst the play sets come with a figure of one of the Powerpuff girls, you can also buy additional sets of the figures separately and LMC was delighted to receive Blossom and Fuzzy Lumpkins. Blossom is exactly the same size as Buttercup, making them perfect partners on LMC’s stories.

Powerpuff Girls

The Spin Master Powerpuff Girls play sets (priced between £15 and £25, depending on retailer) and the separate figure sets (priced around the £10 mark) are available from major toy retailers, online and in store.

Disclaimer: We were sent the Powerpuff Girls Dine and Dash Story Maker Playset and the Blossom and Fuzzy Lumpkins action dolls for the purposes of this review. All opinions remain my own.
