I think we first discovered Roo The Roaring Dinosaur when we were sent his first book to review last year. For some reason that review never got written up, but it really should have been as he’s utterly delightful! I’m therefore determined that Best Playday Ever! will get the review it deserves.
This time Roo is joined by his new friend Erik, a big, friendly and extremely clumsy polar bear explorer. Too shows Erik around his island and they have great fun together, even if clumsy Erik does get into a bit of a mess in doing so. When they get to the top of the old volcano they look out to sea and see Erik’s ice ship – but it’s melting!
Roo helps Erik to tow the ice ship away from the hot beach and back out to sea, but the ice ship is still melting. He’s worried about inviting Erik into his little boat, but he’s scared about what the clumsy polar bear will do. He realises Erik needs help though and takes the brave decision of letting him into his little boat and he’s so glad he did. Erik makes that little boat go faster than it’s ever gone before and in no time at all they’re back at Erik’s home on his island.
Rob’s never seen or played in the snow before and he loved it! Well, like most little people, he loved it until he started to get cold. He makes his way back home across the sea and that night went to bed smiling about his new clumsy polar bear friend and the best payday ever.
Master C loved Roo The Roaring Dinosaur as soon as he first saw him scooting along and he equally loved this new story about him. There’s something about Erik that makes you just want to go and give him a big hug.
