Blogging and reviews have taken a bit of a back seat here since the summer – mainly in favour of crochet and crafting – but those crafty people at Warburtons seem to have worked out how to get my attention and get me back here. It’s amazing what a sucker I am for a new mug and accompanying teapot, especially when they are gorgeous Le Creuset ones!
It’s not unusual for parcels to be left with one of my neighbours, as the delivery people always seem to have a habit of coming when I’m on a school or pre-school run. What is unusual though is for my elderly neighbour to hand over a parcel with the words “this looks more exciting than normal. I can’t wait to hear what’s inside!” That’s exactly what she said though when this hamper was delivered and actually inside was even more exciting.
To celebrate the launch of their new Giant Crumpets they sent me this fab hamper with everything I could possibly need to try out the crumpets with a perfect cup of tea. Now I love a crumpet. There’s something incredibly comforting about a crumpet hot from the toaster with the butter just melting on it and an accompanying cup of tea. Warburtons have gone one set further though and come up with these new Giant Crumpets and they’re brilliant! They’re about twice the size of regular crumpets and taste exactly the same, but are designed so that they still fit inside a standard toaster. Genius.
In my opinion you can’t really beat simple crumpets and butter, but in order to ensure this was a proper test of them, I also tried out Giant Crumpets with Scrambled Egg and Smoked Salmon for tea one night, for me and Little Miss C. Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon is one of her favourite meals (I know – how middle class is she?) and normally I’d end up doing crumpets or similar with them, but have to cook two each which meant one pair were getting cold whilst the other were in the toaster. That’s not the case with these giant crumpets though. They are the perfect size to make a nice main meal and thick and fluffy too.
Giant Crumpets are definitely a big hit in those household. As is my wonderful new mug and teapot. Thank you Warburtons!
Disclaimer: In case you haven’t realised yet, Warburtons sent me the above mentioned hamper with mug, teapot and giant crumpets in it, along with a supermarket gift card to buy other ingredients to try them out with. They didn’t ask for a review and what I have written here is my own views. If you’re local and want to pop round to try out my new teapot with me then just let me know!
