It's time for another TASSIMO Blogger Challenge and this month I'm embracing the cold. Whilst autumn and winter may not be everyone's cup of tea there's actually something I quite like about wrapping up warm in a scarf and hat, or under a blanket on the sofa. I like how cosy you can make it at home once you've drawn the curtains and everyone is in from work and school. I also like winter warming meals and in my mind nothing beats wrapping your hands round a hot mug of something when there's a chill in the air.
We were asked to use our TASSIMO machines to come up with a Winter Warmer recipe and also sent some ingredients to help. Now, in my mind one of the best drinks you can enjoy in winter is a hot chocolate and I can still clearly remember the first time I ever had a hot chocolate in a cafe. I must have been about 14 and on one of our Saturday visits to town one of my friends introduced me to Tubbs cafe in Harrogate (which I so hope is still there) and they served a delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows, whipped cream and a chocolate flake sat in the top. I'm yet to find a hot chocolate to rival it.
My aim was to create something similar, but being a tired mum of two, I also needed a bit of a caffeine kick in there too. I'm pretty pleased with what I came up with, even if I still haven't mastered the skill of getting squirty cream out of a can to look good on top of anything!
Hot Chocolate with a Caffeine Kick
Ingredients:
- 1 x Carte Noire Espresso
- 1 x Cadbury Hot Chocolate
- Generous handful of mini marshmallows
- Big squirt of whipped cream
- Handful of chocolate chips
Method:
Put the milky T DISC part of the Cadbury Hot Chocolate in your machine, and then follow it with the Espresso T DISC and the chocolate part. Give them a good stir together then squirt whipped cream all over the top. On top of that add the mini marshmallows and chocolate chips.
You can either try to drink through the cream and other bits on top or eat them with a spoon whilst you wait for the caffeinated chocolate to cool down a bit. Either way though it's delicious. The espresso really does give it the kick that you need if you've been up all night with little ones too.
Since coming up with this I have to admit that I've been drinking loads of them – perfect as a winter warmer, sweet treat and caffeine hit in one.
Disclaimer: As part of the TASSIMO Blogger Network I was sent a TASSIMO machine earlier in the year and get set monthly challenges using my machine for which I am sent T DISCS and ingredients.
