Review: ChillFactor Squeeze Cup Slushy Maker

14/05/2013

ChillFactor

For so many people of my age there were two camps when they were children – those that had a Mr Frosty and those who didn't. Sadly I was in the group that didn't and all these years later I still remember how jealous I felt of school friend Rebecca who did have one. I loved slushys then and I still do now. The thought of being able to make them at home still excites me and I was therefore really pleased to be asked to review the ChillFactor Squeeze Cup Slushy Maker.

The beauty of the ChillFactor is that it doesn't take up all the space that a Mr Frosty did – the magic is all in the cup. What's not obvious from the pictures is that the coloured cup is made of a soft material and inside of it sits what looks a bit like one of those ice packs that you put in the freezer. You keep this cup section in the freezer before you want to make a slushy. When you take it out you fill it with a cold drink, put on the lid and then squeeze the cup until the drink magically turns into a slushy!

It is important to make sure the drink is fridge cold when you put it in the cup (I tried with it not that cold first and whilst it makes it a bit icy it really does need to be very cold to work properly) and also don't overfill the cup as that just makes it overflow when you start squeezing. I was amazed just how fast this did work though and how simple it was to use. The only faff was working out which order to put the various rings on the cup to screw the lid on, but after a couple of goes this became much simpler to understand.

If you've got children then the ChillFactor is a great thing to have to quickly make slushy drinks on a summer day, but I can also see it being great fun for cocktails once the kids have gone to bed too!

Disclaimer: I was sent a ChillFactor for the purpose of this review.
