I feel I should start this post with a caveat. Possibly quite a large caveat. My fashion sense isn't exactly always what I think those in the know call "on trend". When it comes to dressing the kids though it all seems so much easier. Maybe it's because you look at the kids all day that you can tell what suits them and what doesn't, whereas I hardly ever see myself in a full length mirror.
Something I realised quite soon after Master C was born is that I now needed to familiarise myself with boys clothes as well as girls and what has surprised me is just how much I've enjoyed doing so. There are some fantastic clothes for children right now and so often my sister and I have found ourselves saying how we wish companies would make their kids range in adult sizes. It's as if those designing children's clothes have really upped their game recently and that ties in with the first ever Global Kids Fashion Week which took place last month. Whilst designer clothes might not be the most suitable thing for a play-date in the park there are plenty of other occasions when getting a bit dressed up is appropriate, and we all know just how good a quality outfit can make you feel.
The big thing when designing children's clothes is that not only do they have to look good, but they also need to be of a good enough quality to withstand all the rough and tumble that children do as part of their daily lives, and more trips through the washing machine than most adult clothes. Children themselves also seem to be getting more of an eye for fashion too – my nearly three year old has recently started commenting on not only her clothes, but also those others are wearing, both children and adult.
It's great to see so many quality fashionable outfits out there for children and it's not just clothes – there is some excellent footwear too, in particular boys summer sandals. Just as soon as Master C's on his feet there will be a whole new area for me to get to know! I fear that clothes shopping trips with the children might get even more expensive once they both have opinions about what they want to wear.

My daughter’s just started getting herself dressed and choosing her own outfits. We’ve had some howlers! Keep your parental control as long as possible I say and thank the Lord for school uniform!

I am so looking forward to school uniform. My daughter currently has a favourite outfit which consists of a bright pink t-shirt with Peppa Pig on it, salmon pink trousers, red shoes and a purple and pink striped cardigan!
