Another stripy hat

03/01/2012

WalshStripyHat

There's a new baby in St Albans (local bloggers Claire and Alex's third child, an adorable little boy, to be exact) and as everyone knows every new baby deserves something handknitted when they were born and I was delighted to oblige here.

The pattern is the same Sublime one that I followed for the first hat that I made for LMC nearly two years ago. This time I was just using up some ball ends from my stash – possibly James C Brett's pure merino – and at first I wasn't too sure about the colours, but once the stripes came together they really worked very well and I think make a lovely difference to the usual "baby blue" that most baby clothes seem to be.

I was caught out a bit on the timing of this gift though as the little lad wasn't actually due for another week, but some tweets from Alex on new year's eve suggested that his arrival may be far approaching and I therefore saw in the new year with a pair of fast moving knitting needles in my hands!
