I don't seem to have done much knitting of late as most of the time I've been concentrating on the cross-stitch picture that I'm hoping to hang on the nursery wall. Things may change though as Mr C recently bought me a couple of little Sublime hand knit books that feature the most gorgeous designs for babies. The morning he gave them to me I spent about an hour sitting there just looking at the lovely pictures – everything in there is just so cute!
I don't know as yet as to whether Baby C is going to be of the pink or blue "variety" but one thing is for sure, as soon as he or she makes an appearance and I know I'll already have a list of projects lined up. Until then I'm concentrating on something that could suit either sex and hence my first pattern from the third little Sublime hand kit book was for this lovely Get Knotted Stripey Hat.
An incredibly easy pattern to follow and the yarn itself (Sublime baby cashmere merino silk dk) is lovely and soft to work with and knits up quite fast on 4mm needles. This hat still needs shaping to get rid of the rolling up bottom bit, but I'm already in love with the purple colour I used (shade 0016, pudding I believe). The only complaint I have is that I seem to be struggling for a local stockist to be able to buy more yarn. I've found one place near where Mr C works, but unfortunately they only have a small selection of colours. It may be that eBay will be the best way of sourcing some more. I've enough left to make another hat in possibly the next size up, and after that I've got my eye on one of the blanket patterns in the books. I just need to decide what colour it should be…

Take a look here. The baby cashmerino is lovely. I’ve ordered from this site and the service was excellent.
