I've not been that adventurous yet in my bread making, but I've certainly always wanted to be more so, especially after the tomato bread that I got to eat at a friend's house and so I got out one of my bread making books with the aim of making some sun-dried tomato bread.
The lack of sun-dried tomatoes in the store cupboard meant that my plans had to be modified someone and instead I ended up making parmesan bread. I started off with the sun-dried tomato bread recipe from Jennie Shapter's Bread Machine book and followed the instructions for the medium sized loaf. I omitted the sun-dried tomatoes and instead added a few squeezes of tomato puree instead.
The recipe calls for 50g of grated parmesan and this is certainly what gave my loaf the taste it had. It baked really well though and seemed to have the perfect shape and consistency when it came out and was sliced.
Mr C and I found that the best way to eat this was lightly toasted with butter and with a bowl of Heinz cream of tomato soup. We did this for lunch on a cold autumn feeling day when both of us were at home and it really did make a perfect pairing.
I'm now looking forward to trying some of the other recipes from the book (and making sure I have the right ingredients in in advance next time!)

That loaf looks delicious. I’ve made bread (just had the urge to!) the last two Saturdays, using one of Nigella Lawson’s recipes. You can’t beat homemade, can you?
