On my way home from work on Wednesday I called in at a local John Lewis store with the hope that I might be able to find a haberdashery bargain in their famous Clearance. I’d already popped into one of their stores at the weekend and found a few things reduced, but I’d heard rumours that further reductions had been made now that they’re into the final week of the sale. It seems I wasn’t to be disappointed!
For the grand total of £21 I managed to get 17 balls of Rowan bamboo tape in shade 714 ember. It looks simply divine and feels so so soft!
In that price I also managed to get a copy of the Rowan Bamboo Tape Collection book. I’m not yet decided on which pattern to make and am actually quite thrilled about having a choice and to have found enough yarn to make something up at such a good sale price!
I have a few other knitting projects on the go at the moment, but once I’ve decided what I’m going to do and made a start I’ll let you know.
Hi Mrs C
Saw your comment on It not easy being green forum…about skills etc. I used to live in ‘Harpendinium’ for many years and commuted on Thameslink like a drone, heading to the City. After a spell in Hertford, and then next to Tower Bridge, husband and I decided to head to south Devon and launch my ethical clothing label. Since being down here, I miss 2 things: Borough Market and I was a big appreciator of The Tube. You’ll be glad to hear the most popular/posh restaurant in Brixham is owned by a chef from St Albans! I’m soooo glad I figured all of this out before hitting the age of 40…that being Green…living Green is excellent fun and makes a lot of sense!
I’ll add you to my blogroll.

Well done on getting such a good bargain. The bamboo tape feels lovely and I love that colour of red. Polly x x x
Many thanks for your comments
Shauna, so jealous that you took the jump, just trying to pluck up courage to get out of the rat race myself, not an easy thing to do!
Polly – I too love that red colour. If the truth be told I fell in love with the yarn before having a clue what I’d make with it – luckily I then found the book and felt a little more able to justify the purchase!
