This week was supposed to be a nice little "holiday" between Mr C leaving one job and starting a new one. We acknowledged that there were likely to be some little jobs left to finish off in our new loft conversion, but the reality is that we've actually been running round like headless chickens all week trying to make decisions, but things and get everything sorted. Today we've made quite an effort to make the day a bit calmer and fun. A spot of baking - mainly prompted by the need to use up some bananas that were going very brown in the fruit bowl - a pub lunch and a wander ... read more
There!
After posting hopefully last week I'm delighted to say that we're there! The last couple of nights have been spent in our new bedroom, sleeping in our bed, not surrounded by boxes and boxes of stuff. OK so the curtains aren't yet up and there were a few problems like our chest of drawers not actually fitting up the stairs, but the fantastic news is that our new room was ready to move into before Baby C arrived - a miracle. If it's possible things seem to have got even more manic since the builders finished as we're now able to do all the jobs that we'd had ... read more
Nearly there
The end might finally be in sight. The major building work is complete. The majority of the decorating is done. The bathroom is installed. The new tiles are up. OK, so there are still a load of little jobs to complete and the small matter of changing goalposts with the building inspecting people meaning that today there are electricians all over the place installing extra smoke detectors, but, if all goes according to plan this time next week we might have just spent the first night in our new bedroom. Little Miss C has already moved into her new bigger bedroom and is taking great delight in ... read more
Nice things
This latter half of July has been a funny old time. It started with me becoming a year older, not something that I usually get all that fussed about, but despite a bad start to the day itself I also had a lovely spread out series of celebrations and treats. Things certainly started to look up with the postman appeared at the door with a large box of treats from Bettys - with strict instructions on the outside that it should be opened straight away as it contained edible delights the postman looked disappointed when I signed for it! Both Mr C and Little Miss C must have been busy ... read more
The dangers of shoes…
They don't exactly look dangerous do they? A pair of toddler shoes in a bright red and a size five and a half. Yet yesterday they were the reason behind a dash to the emergency Doctors before closing. Little Miss C didn't fall over in them, nor did my inability to see my own feet cause me to trip over them when she left them lying around. Oh no - nothing that straight forward. Instead I managed to sprain my wrist whilst fastening the buckle on them. Yep, you read that right - a sprained wrist caused by fastening my daughter's shoes. You honestly couldn't make this up. After ... read more
Too much?
It's all been a bit quiet here lately. Not due to an early arrival of Baby C I'm pleased to say, but instead due to the simple fact that there haven't quite been enough hours in the day to get done everything that needs doing. In addition to looking after Little Miss C and being generally tired from being pregnant my body appeared to decide that a simple cold was too much like hard work this last week and seemed to stop working properly in protest. Two weeks of not being able to breathe properly due to a bunged up nose and sinus pain, coupled with a hacking cough became far too ... read more
Keeping it simple
Things at home have been a bit manic lately. Our builders are two weeks into our loft conversion and as we're still living at home that means that there's noise, dust and a change of routine to get used to. As the builders start just after 8am I need to make sure all three of us are up, dressed and downstairs by then which doesn't really fit in with the lazy morning routine that Little Miss C and I developed over the last couple of years. Daytime naps have also had to be downstairs in a travel cot in a not very dark front room and playtime in the garden isn't always possible ... read more
There’s a baby in mummy’s tummy…
A swift karate kick to my stomach was how Little Miss C responded when we first told her that there was a baby in there. I was three months pregnant and she was 21 months old at the time. It wasn't quite the reaction we expected, but then again you just can't always guess how children are going to respond to things. She's always been very inquisitive and picks up on lots that is going on around her so we decided to tell her as soon as we'd had the 12 week scan. A simple sentence of "there's a baby in mummy's tummy" seemed to be enough for her to realise what ... read more
Pregnancy Meme
I've been tagged by Emmy's Mummy to take part in this pregnancy meme. In a way it seems a bit strange writing about being pregnant again as with already having Little Miss C I have to admit to having days where I simply don't have the time to even think about being pregnant! I'm struggling to find any other pregnant bloggers to tag in this, but if you're pregnant and want to answer these questions yourself then please just add a link to your post in the comments section below. What was your first reaction when you found out that you were/are pregnant and why do ... read more

There's been a birthday to celebrate here this weekend. A little lady who is now old enough to understand that a good birthday involves cards, presents, cake and a party. The house is now (finally) quiet and almost resembles tidy and I'm sat here struggling to find words that adequately describe how I feel about this amazing little lady that's in my life. I never knew that it was possible to love one little person quite so much. Every day she completely amazes me with her passion for life and the sense of humour that she's quickly developing. She's also one of the ... read more
