That was the really "helpful" message that Mr C gave me as he waved a copy of the above book at me as soon as I mentioned that I thought I might have a sore throat starting at the weekend. The weekend that came just before he headed off overseas for his first trip away with his new job since Master C arrived. Can you guess where this is going yet?
Yes, that's right. Cue three days of me feeling rough – to any men reading imagine man flu following 6 weeks of never having more than three hours sleep in one go and you're getting close – and combine with it a 5 week old who still feeds every three hours (if not more frequently) and a toddler who misses her daddy, but also has a nasty cold which causes ear ache in the middle of the night. Mr C's Eurostar really can't get back here fast enough for me right now.
But still, last time I looked all three of us were still alive, we're all dressed in clean clothes, the house is still standing and no one is hungry – although with Master C I'd only give it ten minutes before the latter is no longer the case! There may have been a lot of CBeebies and daytime TV watched and several meals may have come from a can or the freezer, but LMC hasn't complained about either of those. In other word's we've survived, but it's made me very keen to make sure I'm extra nice to Mr C when he gets back as there's no way I want to end up a single parent any time soon – complete respect to anyone who manages like this full time!
