Making your Home More Energy Efficient

22/09/2025

Do you feel as though your home isn’t quite as energy-efficient as it could be? If so, then you really do need to take steps to try and fix that. If you don’t, then you may find that you end up spending way more than you have to on your bills, which can impact your lifestyle overall.

Loft Insulation

If you want to make your home more energy efficient, then one of the things you can do is look into loft insulation. It’s reasonably priced, and you may also find that it doesn’t cause a lot of disruption to your home. If you insulate your loft, your attic, or your flat roof, then this is one of the best ways for you to reduce heat loss. This will make your house warmer, and it will also result in you losing less heat through your roof. On top of this, you won’t have to put your radiators on as often, as your heat is warmer overall. If you want to insulate your home, then you will use rolls of mineral wool insulation. You will have the bottom layer, which is put between the joists, and then another layer, which is put on top.

Update your Boiler

If you update your boiler, then you will notice a huge difference in your central heating. Central heating is the best way for you to keep your home warm, but at the same time, if your system is inefficient, then this can result in you spending more than you have to on your energy bills. One way for you to work around this would be to hire a heating specialist, as they can come to your home and find out what you could do to try and keep your home energy efficient. If you want your upgrade to make the biggest difference, then it’s wise to combine it with getting some double glazing put in, as this will help you to retain the heat in your home over the winter.

Double Glazing

Another thing you want to do is look into things like double glazing. There are some money-saving advantages to having double glazing, too. Replacing windows is not disruptive at all, and it can add a lot of value to your home. Factors like this are an obvious choice if you want to make your home more energy efficient, and you would be surprised at how much of a difference it can make. You do want to make sure, though, that you are taking into account the energy value of your windows now; however, it may be more effective for you to just replace the glass. This will make a big difference to your energy savings, and at the same time, it will help you to keep your home efficient.

If you can try and make upgrades like this now, before winter hits, you will be able to capitalize on the energy efficiency of your home while making sure that you get your home ready.
