Your health is the most valuable thing in the world – it’s worth more than money, more than your job and more than anything else you can imagine. It’s simple when you think about it, you could have all the money in the world, but if you aren’t healthy, then you are not going to be living a great life.
Looking after your health can be achieved in various ways. The obvious things are your diet, your fitness and how much water you drink. Other factors that contribute to your overall health include socialising with your friends and family members, attending your yearly medical check-ups and getting enough sleep – sleep is so important!

Looking after your diet
A good place to start is your diet. You are what you eat, as they say, and that’s very true in many cases. If you eat a healthy diet, you’ll feel energised, healthy and positive. If you eat an unhealthy diet, you’ll feel sluggish, tired, and your mental health will suffer. Start by making sure you are eating your five fruits and vegetables a day. You should be drinking around 3 litres of water a day and try to cut out any fast food that you eat regularly – of course, enjoy in moderation. Getting enough sleep
Sleep is something a lot of people don’t get enough of, even though it’s very important for their health. You should be getting around 7 to 9 hours of sleep each day, the exact number varies depending on age, gender and weight, etc. When you are sleeping, your body is allowed to rest, which can help it repair, fight off any illnesses, as well as refresh your mind. The best thing to do is to track how much sleep you get this week and then make improvements according to your results. You can track your sleep using apps or by keeping a sleep diary.
Attending medical checkups
Every year, there are various medical checkups which you should attend. These can vary from a dentist check-up, an optician’s visit, to a hearing test or an overall health check. You should always attend these as you never know what is happening to your body, so if anything is wrong, you want to catch it early, this way it doesn’t turn out to be something serious. Some check-ups will be every six months, every year or maybe more – when visiting, they will be able to put together a realistic schedule for you.
