The Secret to Stress-Free Wall Hanging

There are some people who love nothing more than a good old DIY project and some that simply don’t. Even something as simple as hanging a picture can be a nightmare, but there are a few tricks to stress-free wall hanging. So consider these for your next foray into home decor!

Using the Right Fittings

There are many different fittings that you can use for various projects. These include adhesive strips for low-weight items such as small to medium-sized photo frames. However, self tapping screws are usually your best bet for securely hanging pretty much anything. Because they create their own threads, they are an ideal way to hang just about anything onto wood, plastic, and metal. You can even use them for drywall and DIY projects, such as window boxes.

Measure and Mark Everything

To be honest, how many times have you hung a photo, piece of artwork, or even a shelf without measuring? We’ve all done it, but it very rarely works out well! Measurements and markings are pretty much the most critical step in hanging anything on a wall. These act as a guide for placement, ensure the item actually fits, and keep things level. All it takes is a few extra minutes to ensure that anything you hang will be in the best position and placement for maximum effect.

The Aesthetics of Stress-Free Wall Hanging

Of course, anything you hang on the wall is usually there for a reason. Most of the time, people hand photos and artwork as part of the overall decor of the home. A recent survey of Millennials found that 82% believe home decor is important for wellbeing. So why would you ignore home personalization? Whether it’s a stunning painting, framed memorabilia, or even something to show off your love of photography, always consider the space before committing to placement.

Use Picture Hanging Tools

Marking and measuring is a vital step in the hanging process. But as easy as it sounds and looks, it can be tricky without experience. If you aren’t experienced, you can end up with unwanted marks all over the walls, paint scuffs, and even torn wallpaper. Fortunately, you can use picture-hanging tools. Hardwall hanging kits, nail shooters, and easy-hanging picture frames make it easier to put up your favorite items, from family photos to pretty sizable mirrors.

Adjust Until You Are Happy

The whole reason you hang something is to make the space feel more inviting by adding to the decor. Therefore, the space is yours, and you must be happy with it. Don’t be scared to adjust a hanging once it is up. Take a step back and assess if it is doing what you want it to do. For example, consider the arrangement of artwork and if it even fits with the decor. If something feels off, adjust or remove it and start over. Placing something you don’t like doesn’t feel great!

Summary

Using the right fittings, such as adhesive picture strips, is a good first step to stress-free wall hanging. However, anything you hang must fit with your home decor. If you aren’t happy with it, then adjust it until you are. After all, it is your space, and it must spark that personal joy!
