How to Create a Productive Work-From-Home Setup

A productive work-from-home setup relies on more than an adjustable chair and a large desk! A little different from the standard 9 to 5, remote work allows you to fully explore the best optimal environment for your personal preferences, and there are a few methods to work better.

Get Some Help from Gadgets

No matter where we are today, it’s hard to avoid technology. For better or worse, there are gadgets everywhere. And no matter what you think of them, most are pretty useful. Take the humble smartphone. Today, the phone has evolved into a personal assistant with AI, tracking apps, and project management. You can even connect to refurbished Apple Watches and cheaper Android devices to remind you of tasks, receive texts, and track health as you work.

Make Sure You’re Comfortable

Being productive relies on many things, and comfort is one of them. When you are comfortable, you work to a higher standard. But it also plays a role in health and safety. As a self-employed remote worker, you are responsible for your own welfare, which is a bit different than working for a company. Therefore, it is a good idea to save some money and invest in the best quality environment you can. If you need a comfy chair, go for it. Desk too small? Find one that fits.

Productive Work-From-Home Organization

Further to being comfortable, organization also plays a critical role when working from home. Of course, most files and folders can be stored digitally these days. But you may not work solely on a computer. Perhaps you craft items that are sold on the web and only use a computer to upload images and descriptions. As one of the 22 million remote workers (US), it can be hard to stay organized. But it helps keep track of things, adds to safety, and prevents costly mistakes.

Work at Your Golden Hours

When you work from home, you are your own boss, and this obviously comes with perks. But like a boss, you must also manage yourself well. This means working when you should. Now, everyone has their optimal work time, called the Golden Hours. Maybe you can’t wait to get started each morning, or perhaps you have more energy after 1 pm. Whatever it is, set aside the time you need to get your work done to the highest level you know you can achieve.

Work to a Well-Planned Schedule

Planning will get you far when you are your own boss. If you typically do the same task each day, then there is minimal need for planning. But not everyone who works from home is a typist! Maybe you need time to meet clients, craft bespoke physical or digital items, and then complete admin work. In this case, you will benefit from segmenting time slots and organizing your day. Working from a plan keeps clients informed but also helps keep family and work life organized.

Summary

Using some nifty gadgets can help create a productive work-from-home setup to stay on top of things. It also helps to organize your items, accessories, and physical and digital files. A plan will help you organize the day to offer the most to clients, family, and, of course, yourself.
