4 Wonderful Ways to Create More Me Time as a Busy Parent

23/07/2024

Getting time to yourself as a parent is almost unheard of, especially if you’re still in the trenches with very young children. Although you always try to prioritise your little ones, sometimes you need to take a step back and consider how to create more time for yourself. Relaxing and recharging is an essential part of parenthood and it will help to create a much happier you as a result. Some of these ideas may resonate with you, and others may not be possible. With this in mind, consider some of the following wonderful ways to create more me time as a busy parent.

Enrol Your Child Into Preschool

When time to yourself is few and far between, you may want to consider enrolling your youngster into a local preschool to further their education and help them move forward with their learning. Pre school can be such a positive place for young children to interact with other people their age and learn about the world around them. Preparing your child for school will give them a jump start in life, and you’ll also get the added benefits of enjoying some much needed time to yourself!

Hire a Babysitter or Nanny

If your little one isn’t quite ready for a preschool setting, you may want to consider hiring a babysitter or nanny to help you out with childcare every now and again. If you are taking on most of the load by yourself, this is going to catch up with you very quickly and cause a lot of stress if you’re unable to sustain it. Hiring a helping hand in the form of a trusted professional will help you to get the much-needed break you deserve.

Adjust Your Working Hours

If you find yourself working all the time, you may want to adjust your working hours and opt for a more flexible pattern. You may find that you’re feeling pulled in ten different directions at once, which can’t be healthy for you or your children. Perhaps you might want to consider going part-time at work in order to accommodate your busy life as a mum. This will help you to regain some of the balance back in your life so that you can thrive in all areas of your life.

Make The Most of Your Evenings

Getting your children to bed at a decent time during the week is going to be your key to a successful slot of me time. Instead of prolonging bedtime for as long as possible, you need to keep them in a rigorous structure so that you get a couple of hours to yourself at home during the evening hours.

Time alone is few and far between when you have very young children, but actually you could be benefiting their development if you choose to change up their routine. Opting for a preschool or childcare setting will not only help them to adapt to a new environment but it will also teach them so much. As soon as you try some of these ideas you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner!
