13 Ways to Keep Your Skin Young and Glowing

29/10/2021

Your skin is one of the first things people notice when they see you and the largest organ in our bodies. Your skin protects your internal organs from the harsh external environment. For this reason, it is essential to keep your skin healthy, so it can keep taking care of you and your body. Let us look at a few ways to keep your skin young and glowing.

Maintain a healthy diet

Avoid consuming highly processed foods and foods high in sugar. Instead, consume a balanced diet, incorporate healthy fats and eat antioxidant-rich foods such as berries and leafy greens.

Keep your hands off your skin

Using dirty hands to scratch your face or pick at scabs and pimples increases the risk of skin infections and scars. Keep your hands off your face to maintain healthy skin.

Exercise often

Regular exercise promotes blood flow and transportation of nutrients to the skin. Sweating will also open up and cleanse your pores.

Drink plenty of water

Experts have always recommended drinking at least eight glasses of water a day for your skin to remain healthy and glowing. You don’t have to drink that much. Mix it up with food rich in water.

Consume Vitamin C

Vitamin C promotes balanced pigmentation, leading to an even skin tone and promoting elastin and collagen production.

Use organic products

You should also go more natural. Organic products such as aloe or ginseng skin care products will give you a glow naturally. Avoid products that contain harmful chemicals and processed ingredients.

Balance skin microbiomes

Skin microbiomes protect us from infection, tame inflammation, help wounds heal, and keep our skin moist and plump. Use unique skincare products formulated to boost skin microbiomes and steer clear of harsh scrubs and soaps.

Avoid smoking

Smoking will restrict the transportation of oxygen to your skin, leading to an increased risk of cancer and promoting the build-up of free radicals that cause damage to the skin.

Get enough sleep

Try to get about six to eight hours of sleep every day to reduce the signs of skin aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles. Inadequate sleep also contributes to the destruction of the skin barrier.

Exfoliate your skin

Get rid of dead skin cells using a toner that dissolves any dead cells or uses a non-irritating acid cleanser. Exfoliating your skin regularly brightens the complexion and smooths out skin texture.

Cleanse with lukewarm water

Cleaning your skin with too hot water will strip it of the necessary natural oils and damage the skin barrier. Use lukewarm to cleanse your face as cold water might not get the job done, leaving you with dirt and residual makeup.

Moisturize your skin

Use products with hydrating ingredients such as ceramides and peptides. Moisturizing the skin promotes a strong skin barrier and reduces flaking and itching.

Clean makeup brushes

Dirty makeup brushes provide a breeding ground for the build-up of oils, bacteria, and grime. Using dirty brushes to apply your makeup can lead to breakouts and hinder you from having glowing, healthy skin. Ensure you clean your brushes every other week.

Wrap up

Remember, in addition to routines to take care of your skin, you should listen to your body. Be on the lookout for warning signs that might signal an underlying issue in your body, such as an allergy, infection, liver disease, or lupus. Try to go as natural as you can in skincare routine.
