How To Use Smoked Salt

04/05/2021

If you are a cooking enthusiast, you will probably know the significance of condiments. A dash of vinegar or lemon juice can do wonders for a bland dish, while mustard or hot sauce can bring a burst of flavor for your taste buds. You can even play with something as basic as salt by opting for the smoked version. Over the years, smoked salt has emerged as one of the most loved ingredients in kitchens around the world.

The special smoky flavors come from being smoked over untreated wood for 12 to 24 hours. The taste is natural as no artificial flavors or colors are added during the smoking process. If you are looking for ways to incorporate this flavorful add-on into your dishes, here are some ideas you can try.

Sprinkle over your snacks

Just sprinkling smoked salt over your snacks can give them a heavenly flavor without even cooking a dish. Add it to a sliced tomato or juicy melon, and you will have a heavenly-tasting anytime snack. You can even season your roasted pumpkin seeds or peanuts with this condiment to create a go-to snack for evening drinks or camping trips. The taste will linger, and you will want more and more!

Mix with roasted veggies

If you are a discerning food lover, you will easily understand the delicate and subtle difference between grilled and roasted dishes. It is easy to make your roasted vegetables taste and feel grilled by simply mixing them with smoked salt just after pulling them out of the oven. The smoky flavor of the condiment will do the magic, even if you miss having a grill at home.

Dry rub your meats

You can transform your homemade burger patties with unique flavors by dry rubbing them before you throw them on the grill. Try using smoked salt alone or experiment with a mix of a variety of spices. Both ways, the smoky flavor will be the highlight of your delicious meat dish. The best part is the versatility of the condiment, as it blends well with chicken, fish, and steak.

Flavor your desserts

Surprisingly, smoked salt makes a great way to flavor your desserts. If you love experimenting with sweet-nothings, try sprinkling a pinch of it on vanilla or chocolate ice cream and experience a heavenly taste.  Add a twist to brownies or chocolate chip cookies with a dash over them just as they come out of the oven. Try it in your salted caramel sauce recipe instead of regular table salt.

Spice up your mocktails

Smoked salt is not only for snacks and grills, but you can also use it for preparing the most delicious drinks. Try it as a seasoning for your Bloody Mary by mixing it with sea salt or celery salt. It also makes a great combination with margarita, so don’t miss out on experimenting with mocktails.

A little creativity can help you do a lot with the smoky flavor of this magical condiment. Just experiment with your favorite snack, drink, grilled dish, or dessert, and you can create a great one!
