6 Summer Style Rules Every Fashionista Must Follow In 2021

21/05/2021

Summer is the best time of the year to flaunt your curves, making it the favorite season for dressy fashionistas. But you have to nail the perfect dressing style to get all the attention you deserve. It requires more than just stepping out in a hot pair of shorts and a pretty off-shoulder top. You also have to follow some style rules to stay on top of the style game.

Unfortunately, most trendy divas fail to do it and end up wasting the hottest season of the year. Moreover, it may get a tad tougher in 2021 because you may not feel as dressy as you always do this season. If you are looking for a style rule guide to help you nail the perfect summer look this year, we have it for you. Read on!

Rule #1- Know what your body loves

Even before you go ahead with the style rules for the season, you need to follow the ones for dressing your body. Following trends blindly is the wrong approach, but wearing what your body loves is the right one. Identify your body type and decide what really works for it. While you follow apples, pears, and hourglasses, remember that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all formula for dressing the different body types.

Whatever drapes your form perfectly and feels comfortable is right for you. If you cannot decide the type of clothes that look good on you, seek help from a stylist, friend, or partner. Another piece of advice is to assess your body every year because you can expect it to change every year.

Rule #2- Easy is the way to go

When you start looking to style a summer wardrobe this year, stick to easy styles. You need to do it all the more right now because outings are minimal, and staying at home is a norm. If you are working from home, you will have to follow the easy style rule for your work wardrobe as well. Even as you look for super-comfy outfits, never compromise with style. You can easily find pieces that offer a perfect blend of great looks and a comfortable feel.

Look for breathable fabrics to start with because they wouldn’t stick, whether you stay at home or plan a beach vacation at a less crowded destination. Cotton, rayon, and linen are the best. Apart from the right fabric, a perfect fit does the rest to make you look and feel stylish.

Rule #3- Stick to lighter hues

Summer is all about sunny days and easy vibes. Lighter hues blend into the season’s mood perfectly. Moreover, they give you a much-needed respite after wearing the blacks and blues that usually dominate the winter wardrobes of fashionistas. Check your collection and see if you have enough pastels for the season because these are the trending hues this year.

If not, it is time to revamp your wardrobe with new Summer wear in the shades of the season. You can look around on the internet or follow celebrity styles to create a checklist of the hues you want to pick. Once you have your eyes set on the lilacs, peaches, and powder blues, you are all set for a shopping spree.

Rule #4- Be occasion-ready

Even as you may not expect to party as usual this summer, it isn’t an excuse to fail with your dressing style. As things get better with vaccine rollouts, you will probably want to get back with your gang. What if you plan to host a get-together at home or get an invitation for one? You have to be occasion-ready this summer like any other year, so don’t just stick to the casuals. Shop a couple of party dresses so that you need not face last-moment hassles.

Being occasion-ready also applies to professional dressing, which means it is a good time to revamp your office wardrobe as well. Don’t forget to shop for a vacation because you may plan a short trip to a beach destination sooner rather than later.

Rule #5- Dare to bare

When it comes to flaunting your body, this is the best time of the year, and you shouldn’t miss out on the chance. Follow the dare to bare trend this season and invest in ultra-short dresses, off-shoulder tops, and tiny shorts. Strappy outfits make a smart alternative if you don’t want to be extra-revealing with your dressing style.

These outfits make a worthy investment because they will inspire you to shed the extra pounds and inches gained during the pandemic year. Even as you show it all, stick to everything that makes you feel confident and comfortable because everything boils down to that.

Rule #6- Ramp up your accessories

Another rule you must follow with summer style this year is to ramp up your accessories. After a year of WFH and lockdowns, your collection is likely to be outdated, and a makeover will do it a lot of good. You can expect things to get back to usual soon as a large segment of the country is vaccinated.

An investment in new accessories makes sense as you will want to step out in style once offices, malls, and public venues reopen. Even while masks may eventually go off, it makes sense to have some cool ones in your collection. You may still need to wear them at some places, and it is better to stay on the safer side as long as the virus is still there.

The final piece of advice to dress like a diva this summer is to do your thing. It is easy to emulate a celebrity, but sticking to your style statement is even better. Dress in outfits that make you feel easy, and your confidence will do the rest. You may be itching to splurge on your wardrobe this season, but having a budget as you shop is the most sensible thing to do. Consider following the capsule wardrobe concept, and you can dress to impress without spending a fortune.
