12 Fun Ways To Update Your Look in 2020

29/06/2020

If you’re desperate to update your look in 2020, here we have 12 fun ways you can do just that. Everybody gets bored of their appearance from time to time, but there are some really cool and subtle ways you can do it without making a huge commitment. You don’t need to go out and get surgery like a Kardashian or even get a tattoo – read on for some ideas!

1. Try On Something You Would Never Usually Wear

When you go shopping for clothes, see if you can find something you wouldn’t usually wear and try it on. The great thing about this is that you can easily find something you never thought would suit you and love it! You might not love it, and that’s fine. Just don’t shy away from trying out brand new styles to get a better idea of what you want to wear.

2. Experiment With Hair Accessories

Hair accessories can completely change up any look. You might be surprised how good you look in a hair scarf or with a few carefully placed hair clips. There are so many things you can try out there: scrunchies, headbands, hair rings (these look so grungy and great with a french plait!), hair bows, bandanas, and more. Quite confused what these accessories should be? Well, your best bet can be studying through valuable resources like https://www.celticcrystaldesign.com/ to find inspirations. After all, it’s about marking your identity with the best hair accessories.

3. Try A New Hairstyle

A brand new hairstyle could give you the change you’re looking for. If you always wear your hair down, how about a high ponytail? If you always have it in a messy bun, why not try french plaits? There are YouTube tutorials you can watch if you’re unsure what to do – just remember that prepping your hair for the right hairstyle will be so much easier and help you to keep it in place. For example, some hairstyles may require some dry shampoo and a little backcomb to keep it in place and give it a better finish. Never underestimate the importance of the products you use!

4. Use A New Makeup Product

Using a new makeup product is easy and a great way to try something new. Here are some suggestions:

  • Try an eyeliner flick on your upper lid.
  • Try a colored mascara or eyeliner on your lower lash line.
  • Go for a bright eyeshadow.
  • Try a brand new lipstick – bright red is always a showstopper!
  • Try adding some faux freckles for a cute summer look.

5. Flip Your Parting

You could change your look up in just a couple of seconds if you flip your parting around. If you usually have it on the left, flip it so it’s on the right side. You could also try a middle parting, or even a zig-zag parting for something a little different.

6. Get A Haircut

Try out a new haircut and you might find that you don’t need to do anything else at all to your look. You could go for a choppy bob if you want something edgy, or have bangs cut in. You can get really creative with bangs: side bangs, full bangs, wispy bangs, and even short bangs. Consider your face shape and your usual style, plust how much time you have to dedicate to washing and styling your hair before you decide which style to go for.

7. Experiment With Glasses

Glasses are a wonderful way for anybody to switch up their look. You don’t even need a prescription when there are things like bluelight glasses available. We’re all exposed to blue light for a large portion of the day with our phone screens, TVs, and computers. Bluelight glasses are something everybody could do with. If you do have a glasses prescription, you can shop here for glasses that will suit your needs.

8. Update Your Jewelry

Jewelry is a really easy way to update your look, so see if there are any gaps you can fill in your jewelry collection. Statement earrings can look amazing with an up-do, and layered necklaces can look great when you’re trying to emulate a boho look. Layering pieces and piling on rings and bangles can look eclectic and is perfect for those who don’t like their style to be easily defined.

9. Overhaul Your Wardrobe

You don’t even necessarily need to buy anything new to update your look. See if you can get rid of things you no longer wear to make space in your wardrobe – this will allow you to shop it for pieces you forgot you had. Pieces at the back of your wardrobe can easily get forgotten about and go unworn for months, even years. When you shop your wardrobe and ensure you rotate your pieces, everything is far more likely to get worn.

10. Try A Semi-permanent Hair Color

You don’t need to make a huge commitment to change your hair color. Try a semi-permanent color! Arctic Fox are a great brand and do so many cool, vibrant styles. They even do a range for dark hair so you don’t have to damage your hair with bleach beforehand!

11. Practice Accessorizing

There are so many ways to accessorize your looks, and many people aren’t used to doing it. Getting dressed in a full outfit can be a lot of work sometimes, so adding bags and shoes and everything else can feel like a chore. Then you have scarves, sunglasses, and every other accessory under the sun. Practice accessorizing and you’ll get better at it, pure and simple.

12. Practice Layering your Outfits

When you learn to layer your outfits, you can create an almost new looking outfit out of pieces you already own. You could even make summer pieces suitable for winter, and vice versa. You’ll save money and have a lot of fun creating new looks. You can get ideas for layered outfits on Pinterest. This is a great skill to have and can instantly make you look more interesting. Texture is key in every outfit!
