Signs That It’s Probably The Right Time To Move Home

15/08/2019

There comes a time when we all have itchy feet and consider a house move.

In some cases, we resist the urge, possibly because of the expected stresses and expenses that are part and parcel of the move.

In other cases, we find ways to manage our homes, so the need to move isn’t so strong.

And in other cases, we decide that it’s finally time to shut the doors of our homes for good and move on.

In relation to the latter, these are two of the signs that suggest this is the right thing to do if you are currently considering a move.

#1: Your home is too expensive to run

This is the biggie for many of us, because, let’s face it, none of us are immune to those pesky household bills. With running costs including electricity, water, council tax, and home insurances, we are going to feel the pinch.

Now, there are ways to save money at home, of course. You could use price comparison sites to find cheaper utility and insurance providers. You might cut out some of your unnecessary expenses too, such as Friday night takeaways and those supermarket luxuries that aren’t part of your weekly meal plans. You might look for ways to boost your income too.

However, if after trying the above, and you are still struggling to make ends meet, then it might be time to move. New build homes have cheaper running costs, so you might want to browse the linked site for some examples. The smaller the home you choose, the more savings you should make on such things as heating too. And there will be areas of town that are cheaper to live in, especially where your council tax is concerned, so you might want to check costs when you’re looking at properties.

Even so, the spokesperson at Homes By Spencer Hsu, suggests working with a real estate agent. It is because the property market is getting extremely competitive. A real estate agent can help you find the house of your dreams without compromising your needs or budget.

#2: You family has outgrown your home

Especially when more children come into your life, you might struggle for space. You will need extra bedrooms for starters, especially when your children become too old to share. There might be issues with storage too, as the more bodies there are in your home, the more stuff you are going to accumulate.

Of course, you might consider extending your home. You could build outwards to allow for more space in your property, or you could extend upwards or downwards using your loft or basement spaces. You could also add more storage to your home, be that through cupboards or storage furniture, as that would deal with the mass of stuff that your family accumulates.

However, if your home really is cramping your style, and it’s more cost-effective to move than spend money extending your home, then it might be time to go. Both you and your family might then appreciate the increased living space that a new home could afford you, as you won’t get under each other’s feet, and life might become a lot less stressful.

Finally

There might be other signs that it’s time to move, of course. You might want to live nearer friends or family, for example, or it might be easier to commute if you lived nearer work. It’s a tough decision to make, but heart of hearts, you probably know the right answer. We wish you success in whatever you decide to do, and if you do make the move, then we hope it’s a smooth and peaceful transition.
