The Top 3 Home Styling Trends Which Aren’t Going Anywhere

18/10/2018

If you’re looking to give your home a long-lasting makeover, there’s certain styles you’ll want to consider. While many home interior trends change frequently throughout the seasons, others have managed to remain popular for years to come.

Here, we’ll look at the top 3 home styling trends which aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

1. The Scandinavian trend

Scandinavian home design is one of the most popular trends of the decade and it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. Based on functionality and minimalism, this design trend is interesting and unique.

To achieve the look, you’ll want to focus on a neutral colour palette. You can also turn storage into decorative items. The Swedes tend to opt for more stylish storage options, such as a designer clothes rack and stylish kitchen organisers. To keep the minimalist look, it’s also a good idea to choose blinds, rather than curtains in the home. You can pick up Scandinavian style blinds from companies such as Direct Blinds.

2. Upcycling

A slightly newer trend which shows no signs of slowing down, is upcycling. This basically involves recycling old materials and turning them into something new for the home. A lot of people choose to do this themselves as a hobby, but you can also buy upcycled furniture and furnishings already made. Think wooden pallets being turned into a table, or an old dresser being stripped down and repainted to look like new.

3. Shabby chic

If you prefer your home interior to have more of a vintage style, shabby chic is the way to go. It’s been a firm favourite with interior designers for over 20 years now and it focuses on mixing antique style furniture with pastel colours and feminine florals. It’s one of the least expensive and easiest decors to achieve too.

You’ll want to focus on adding very minimal colour to the room but providing plenty of detail. So, it’s pretty much the opposite of minimalistic. Any furniture you invest in should feature a distressed wooden look and furnishings should focus on floral designs.

So, there you have it – 3 home styling trends that really aren’t going anywhere. Whatever your personal preferences, there’s an idea above to suit you. If you prefer a more organised, minimalistic space then Scandinavian is the trend to focus on. However, if you prefer a more lively living space, shabby chic could be the perfect choice.
