The hot weather just keeps on coming wasn’t it. There we all were complaining about snow and ice going on for ever, yet now the complete opposite seems to be true. Comparisons are being made with the heatwave of 1976 and you can see why. Yes, we’re blessed with things like air conditioned cars and shops, as well as being able to inexpensively buy fans to help keep us cool at home, but trying to dress for the weather can still be a tricky one.
It’s a few years ago now when I suddenly took the plunge into dress wearing after years of just being a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. Inspired by a keynote speech from Kirstie Allsopp at a blogging conference it totally changed the way I dress. Although, somewhat ironically I seem to be sitting here writing this in jeans and a t-shirt!
When I was asked to take a look a the maxi dress selection at Simply Be I jumped at the chance. With my current changing body shape I’m not in a position to go and out and do some real world shopping, so a wish-list is the perfect way to fulfil that shopping urge.
Previously I might have always played it safe, and gone for a dress that didn’t make me stand out from the crowd too much. But, with the recent loss of Kate from WitWitWoo I think so many of us online have been inspired to #BeMoreWitWitWoo and throw caution to the wind in our clothing choices. If we want to wear the dress (or the bikini, tank top or anything else we fancy!) then we should do just that. Life’s too short to make choices based on what others may think when it comes to what we wear.
Kate’s legacy was what was ringing in my ears when I chose my first number from the list. The Chi Chi London Bardot Dip Hem Dress might not be something that I can get away with wearing very often, but I’d be very tempted to buy this and then find a damn good excuse to wear it. Even if that means trying to blag an invitation to some posh event, or just badgering the other half to take me somewhere nice to celebrate something. I mean, how could any women not feel a million dollars wearing a dress as fantastic as that?
Glam seems to be the way my choices continued as the Joanna Hope Embroidered Maxi Dress also caught my eye.
There’s something about the embroidered detail on this that really caught my eye and I think there might be a need to come up with an excuse to attend a black tie event of some point just so I could stand there in this, sipping a cocktail whilst lingering around the casino tables. Maybe I’m just letting my imagination run away with me here, but it would definitely be perfect for Christmas party season later in the year.
Moving on to more daytime attire – I really like the look of the Halterneck Maxi Dresses that Simply Be have. There are two different prints designs – one light and one dark – and to me they look like the perfect dress to buy in both sizes. This dress could be totally dressed up with heels for an evening look, or worn with sandals or flip flops for a casual daytime look.
Finally, but by no means least, my eyes were also drawn towards the Joanna Hope Bridal Dress. I’m getting married in just over a month and am still looking for something to wear. I wasn’t really planning to go with a white or ivory look, but this may just make me change my mind. Watch this space…
