The 12 Sleighs of Christmas – Sherri Duskey Rinker and Jake Parker

24/11/2017

The 12 Sleighs of Christmas

Everyone knows that it’s the Elves who keep Santa in check and make sure that everything is in place so that Christmas Eve and present deliveries go without a hitch. The source or build the presents, wrap them all and make sure they’re all delivered to the right addresses. Whole films have been set about the lengths that they’ll go to make sure that no child goes without on Christmas morning.

But, what about Santa’s sleigh itself? Who makes sure that it’s all ready for the mammoth journey that it has to do that night?

Fear not – just like a well tuned Formula One pit crew the elves also take car of making sure that Santa’s sleigh is in full working order and will complete the journey without requiring a pit stop of some sort en route. As all children know, there needs to be a bit of fuel for the reindeer, but that’s all.

But, what happens when the elves discover that Santa must have had a bit of a mishap in his sleigh and put it back in the sleigh shed without anyone noticing?

Well, what happens is that the elves decide to go into full design mode and try to come up with a brand new sleigh design for Santa. Or more accurately – 12 new designs. Hence, The 12 Sleighs of Christmas!

There’s a flying galleon, a dragster and even flying saucers, but which one will Santa choose for the most important journey of the year?

The 12 Sleighs of Christmas is an absolutely delightful book and one which really builds up some of the excitement of Christmas Eve. Children like Master C, who fancy themselves as a bit of an inventor, will absolutely love it, although he did ask a lot of questions about why Santa didn’t use a train to deliver all the presents on Christmas Eve.

Written in rhyming verse, with a wonderful pace it to, The 12 Sleighs of Christmas is absolutely perfect to be read out loud to children in the run up to Christmas. The illustrations by Jake Parker are packed full of fun details with lots for younger children to spot as you read it to them.

If you’re looking for a new, fun book to share with your kids this Christmas then The 12 Sleighs of Christmas fits the bill perfectly!
