Wobbly Worm

06/08/2017

Wobbly Worm

It’s fair to say that my relationship with Wobbly Worm got off to a bit of a shaky start. Or maybe that should have been a wobbly start.

I had great hopes for this outdoor toy and thought that it would be perfect to take along to Wine and Wigwams with me for a spot of evening fun after a bit of vino. I packed it in the car along with everything else, but rather stupidly didn’t pack any batteries. The Wobbly Worm takes two C size batteries and strangely we couldn’t find anything on the campsite that had this size batteries in it at all, so we didn’t get any further than putting it together and wondering how it worked.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and I finally managed to get my hands on the right batteries and we had a play with it at home. The summer weather meant that it was far too wet to try it out in the garden, so instead our living room had to do.

Wobbly Worm

The way the game works is that you have the apple shaped wobbly base with the worm coming out of it. The batteries fit in the base and it wobbles somewhat randomly when switched on. You think it’s actually going to fall over, but somehow it’s been designed well enough that it doesn’t. Well at least it doesn’t on a nice flat bit of carpet!

You then attach the “worm” and with the four pieces that make it up you can actually make it as tall as you like. There are also nine hoops in the box – three in each of red, yellow and pink. In each colour you have a small hoop, a medium sized one and a large one. The aim of the game is to get as many of your hoops as possible over the worm. It may sound like a version of hoop-la, but it’s far harder than that with the worm wobbling randomly all over the place.

The adjustable height of the worm means that you can make it easier for younger players. An alternative would be to give each of the three players different sized hoops as it’s definitely much harder with the small ones.

Wobbly Worm

The game is utterly hilarious once you start playing and Little Miss C loved it. I can also see it making a fantastic game for adults after a drink or two too! Not only will the kids be playing with it in the future, but I highly suspect that when certain friends come to visit and we have a spot of wine the wobbly worm will come out to play.

Wobbly Worm is available to buy online here.
