Getting over loneliness when travelling

08/08/2017

Dating couple

Years ago I was involved in a networking group for engineers. Twice a year we would all meet up somewhere in Europe and have a fantastic time. Alongside the official programme of events would be a variety of social events that everyone enjoyed. They led to some life long friendships and some relationships too.

One day at a planning meeting the task force were trying to come up with ways in which the network could help our members more. A key thing in the group was that many of us had to regularly work away from home. Either a few days in a strange town, city or even country, or in some cases weeks, months or even longer based where a specific project was based. Others had moved to new places for our jobs. Many of us were lonely in these places. It was difficult to find someone to start a relationship with when you were moving about all the time. You had evenings free for dates, but no one to go on them with.

Back then though the internet wasn’t as prolific as it is now. Facebook had only just come into being and we all still kept in touch with each other via old fashioned emails or phone calls. Oh how things have changed now.

No matter where you are in the UK you can nowadays find a website to help you find that special someone with whom to potentially share your life. From the Cardiff dating site over in the Welsh capital, Gloucester dating in the West Country, over to the Sussex dating in the South and the Cumbria dating site in the North, there really is no excuse today for not being able to find a dating partner. If you’re looking for something more mature in a partner, there is also over 50s dating Leeds that is worth a look.
