Review: Magic Twirl Mim-Mim Plush Toy

26/07/2016

Mim-Mim

Little Miss C has been a huge fan of Kate and Mim-Mim since the series first started on CBeebies back in August 2014. At one point recently it appeared in the schedule as the last thing the kids were allowed to watch before going upstairs to brush their teeth before school and as a result Master C also became a bit of a fan.

Both children were therefore delighted when I brought home the new Magic Twirl Mim-Mim Plush to review. This is so much more than just a cuddly toy though as Mim-Mim really is brought to life by saying eight different phrases from the show whenever you either press his tummy or hold his hand to twirl him around – much like Mim-Mim comes to life when Kate swirls him round in the programme.

The Mim-Mim toy is beautifully made and the fact that you can pose Mim-Mim’s ears is a lovely little addition. The kids thought that it was magical that you could twirl him round holding his hands and get him to say the famous line “Kate and Mim-Mim, me and you, lets twirl away to Mimiloo!” Master C spent ages doing that when he first got to play with him. Little Miss C took him to school with her last Friday for the final show and tell of the school year and it was amazing how many children commented on Mim-Mim on the walk to school and in the playground once we got there. He was so instantly recognisable with everyone – children and parents alike – and there were lots of questions as to where he came from. Always a good sign when you’re reviewing a toy!

What intrigued me most about this particular toy is just how keen the kids were to actually share him. As anyone with more than one child will know getting children to share a toy, let alone a new one, is hard work, yet for some reason as soon as I opened Mim-Mim and explained to them that he was to share they instantly seemed to grasp the concept and run with it. Between them they quickly decided who was going to do what with Mim-Mim and who could have him in their bedroom each night. It’s fair to say I was amazed!
