Finding Dory with Specsavers

Finding Dory with Specsavers

Last weekend saw me have a rare weekend away without the kids, but being the amazing mum that I am (or just because timing worked out that way…) I made sure that Mr C would have something special to entertain the kids with on Saturday morning, and so he headed into central London with them to a special screening of the new Disney Pixar film Finding Dory to celebrate the launch of the Specsavers new Finding Dory eyewear range.

Now with both kids loving the film Finding Nemo (to which Finding Dory is the sequel) and with Master C having worn glasses for the last year it seemed like a perfect trip out for them. I was actually quite gutted I couldn’t go (especially as it turns out my radio favourite Iain Lee was also on the guest list!) but Tea and Tents was calling me north instead.

As the title of the film suggests Finding Dory centres around Dory from the original Finding Nemo film. Now living with Nemo and his father Marlin, Dory decides to go off on a quest to find her long-lost family, a trip which takes her around the oceans and via the Marine Life Institute, which brings about questions of aquatic life living in captivity. In the way that you would expect with a Disney Pixar film, Finding Dory has moments of peril and some emotional scenes, but alongside high jinx and various amusing capers. The kids came home saying that they loved Finding Dory and in particular they were huge fans of both Dory and seven-legged octopus Hank.

They also had a great time at the screening itself. Little Miss C is always happy when she can have her face painted and if she gets a goodie bag, and Master C seemed to enjoy the fact that a fuss was made of wearing glasses. He’s still at that stage where he can sometimes be a bit funny about wearing his glasses so it was quite amusing to be sent a picture of him wearing not only his own glasses but a pair of Specsavers Finding Dory ones on top – in addition to wearing the 3D ones for the film itself of course.

Overall, a fantastic morning. Just a shame in a way that I couldn’t go with them.

Disclaimer: Mr C and the kids were guests of Specsavers at this special Finding Dory preview screening. The kids came home with a goodie bag each. All opinions remain my own.
