I Have an Orange Juicy Drink – Andrew Sanders

14/03/2016

I have an orange juicy drink

I was completely intrigued when I opened a parcel containing I Have An Orange Juicy Drink. What a wonderful title for a book. Especially so when you have a small boy like Master C who is always talking about his “apple-y juicy drink”.

The little boy in this story loves his orange juicy drink. So much so that when an alien, a dinosaur and an elephant try to take it away from him he squashes them. With a garden shed, an ocean liner and the moon. Obviously…

But when the little boy’s brother comes along and asks nicely for some he hands it over with a big hug. Because whilst he loves his orange juicy drink, he loves his little brother even more.

I Have An Orange Juicy Drink is such a beautifully silly but sweet story, yet one with a strong moral message. A message that I really hope will help Master C. He’s not always the best at sharing things, or asking nicely. Or always being kind to his sister for that matter. I love the way that Andre Sanders has used a bit of silliness to appeal to children in the way that this story does. The illustrations work alongside the words perfectly and really make the story come to life. The addition of the little brother always having a suck on his head made me genuinely laugh out loud.

I’ve always been a huge fan of books that can help young children and teach them about various life skills and I Have An Orange Juicy Drink is one that fits perfectly into that category.

I have to agree with the above review the book has already become a family favourite. It made such an impression that we went out at the weekend to get it signed by the author! A must buy for the book shelf and we can not wait for the next book!!!
